Choices

Why is it that almost every time there is a new phone released it is available on at&t or t-mobile and not Verizon? For example, the BB Curve, the BB 8820, the BB Pearl, several Samsung phones, etc.
For all of those Verizon employess, don't bother with "it's the better network" answer. Just want to know why/when Verizon will offer their customers more choices in multi-media phones.

Nice list,

Hey Wfine what do you think of the new chocolate. I have been testing it for a couple of days I thinks it is a great phone. The 30sec mms is freaking great.

Just wondering how you just wondering how your customers are taking to it?

also you named GSM carriers. Those phones you think are so good may only be avaialbe for GSM. Remember most phones are not made by american compaines except maybe moto and the rest of the world is mostly on the crappy GSM netowrk. So they tend to get more newer phones.

GSM phones are much less expensive to make. The mindset of many phone makers is simple. Try it out at a lower cost and if it is successful possibly convert it to CDMA. I'm predicting in the future we will see a lot more CDMA/GSM combined handsets. A few companies have enough resources to make the CDMA versions, hence the creation of proprietary equipment.

would love to see GSM/CDMA handsets if they change the way you can use it. For example if they allow you to use GSM while in the states. AS of now they do not!

I'm pretty sure we'll see it in the future. When, or if FCC makes manufactures unlock phones to use for all carriers.

Havent ordered any yet, cant afford to take the hundred and eighty dollar loss on each to match verizons pricing, have to wait till our cost drops a little, cant compete on that phone right now

I'm in the same situation. That, and I'm trying to get my old chocolates gone. I'm down to 2 left. We do have a $50 spiff on new activations for the new chocolate, so that helps us with the new acts once we get it.

Im done with my old chocolates, but no spiff on the new ones here, which sucks, we could actually loose money on selling the new chocolates at Verizons price.

Uhh, in case you didnt realize, the BB 8830 is a less featured version of the BB 8800 from Cingular. The 8830 does not have GPS amongst other features that the 8800 sports.

Ok, I guess you can call it a VZW exclusive then. If less features is what you like.

Mean, but understandable.

Oh well, if Plat has 'strike two' with Sprint (strike one was ATT) there's always T(een)-Mobile.

Plat does b*tch on and on, doesn't he? Oh well.

Still, if he finds another carrier that works well for him, he's gone, and if he strikes out everywhere else, he should finally develop an appreciation for how good the VZW network is.

Should be a win-win, either way, unless he's a stark raving dumbass.

If you think phones like the LG 8700 or New Chocolate are ugly, you need glasses or lasik or something. 😲

Good luck with Sprint, though. Check the indoors reception with them very carefully... that's been their main issue in my experience. Hope it works out fo...

I agree with those but people are looking at PDA's or BB. The 8830 isn't selling that hot. If we had the 8100 or the Curve sales would be out the door.

Build me a better network and I'll switch.

In fact, I wouldn't mind it if someone actually would, 'cuz then VZW would move heaven and earth to improve their phone lineup, and drop the Bluetooth crippling completely.

Their phone lineup admittedly has improved a little already, but still not enough. ☚ī¸

But 'til then, its like Platypus' experience... he switched to ATT for the iPhone, found out the hard way their network completely sucked where he was, then switched back to VZW. 😲

My brother had much the same experience last year... went to Cingular for a nice phone, ended up regretting it, switched back to VZW. I...

I have to disagree. I think sprints network is on par wtih verizon. I think they provide much more as terms of data on theirs. However sprint sucks in CS and Advertisment. I am not a srpint fanboy as I am pissed at them and droped them for billing reasons. I have had both sprint and verizon and have neither now. This is jsut my un bias opionion!

Like I said I hate sprint right now. I wouldn't have them if they gave me free service but that is NOT because of their network or the services they provide. That I can say out of all the carriers I have had and I have had them ALL was top of the list. Its the way they do business and treat their customers! But it all depends on were you live. Also. But that is with every carrier. But no one can prove to me that verizon's network is untouchable when it comes down to facts. And sorry 61 million users does not prove it to me. It proves they have an awsome advertising dept. And a respectable name that people conect with!

The majority of the world uses GSM technology. From a manufacturer's standpoint, it makes more sense to make GSM phones because you will sell more of them. If the world market were dominated by CDMA technology, the roles would be reversed.

It's that simple.
