Thinking of switching from Verizon to Cingular.

My one year contract with Verizon expires in two months. Verizon knowing this, would they try or tempt to stay with with a special deal? Or do they realy care?
I myself would ever sign a two year conract, they are way to long! At least with one year contracts you can go with another company without having to pay ETF.

(In my most recent post it should of said, "I myself would NEVER sign a two year contract".)

You aren't going to get a free phone on a one-year contract. It's simply not cost-effective for a carrier.

1 year contracts with a free phone? That just doesn't happen with any carrier.

Even the cingular stand right in front here doesn't have a 1 year contract with a free phone.

Here are some new ones:
1) Vrz plan offer less minutes and are more expensive than Cingular/Attws and T-Mobile
2) No sim card to be able to change out in most phones(GSM does).
3)Severely lacking in the bluetooth dept.
4)Very slow getting new phones to market. By the time the LG VX-8000 comes out I probably won't want anymore.
5)Verizon coverage no longer has a monopoly, as least wh...

Ok. Cingular only offers 50 mintues more than the VZW plans except for their $49.99 plan which is 100 minutes more. The plans cost exactly the same.

2) No sim card to be able to change out in most phones(GSM does).

A SIM card doesn't matter. All a SIM card does in the USA is hold your phone numbers and what else? Does it hold pictures and stuff? Most phones have memory for that reason. Can someone start a post in the SHOP TALK FORUM and tell me the advantages of a SIM card?

3)Severely lacking in the bluetooth dept.

Unless you are planning on uti...

Sim card hold phone numbers yes..just becuase they don't hold pictures doesn't make them worthless. Some people have hundreds of numbers stored, and don't want to have to program them all in again.

Verizon's phones don't do that..you have to use a machine at the store to do that, if at all.

Yes our phones have games and toys, but they work too. i've never had a problem with them.

and on the plans. they still have more minutes for the same price. regardless of how many more. it's still more.

and....I'm done. Just wanted to get that out there..*flee*

sounds like you think Cingular has all the advantages... then GO to them. Let's just put it this way...

You want a SIM card phone... VZW isn't going GSM overnight for ya, so you can't get that one.

You want more minutes... VZW isn't going to change their plan for ya, so you can't get that one.

You want a free phone... VZW isn't going to LOSE money, it isn't cost affective to take such a huge hit and barely make it up on service ($39.99/month is NOT rollin in the dough these days).

You also seem to think other carriers have equal or better service in your market, then why are you bothering trying to get VZW to jump through hoops to keep you when it won't benefit YOU nor VZW? Stop whining and go get whatever damn carrier you think ...

I would give Cingular some props, but they aren't available in MN (ATT is though). I've had nothing short of a wonderful experience with Verizon. No wrong billing or rude associates. IMO their coverage area seems to be the best of all of the other carriers. I can go down to rural Helena, AR and receive the same quality signal as I would in the cities without having to pay any kind of roaming charge (I only deal with the national plans). You all are right about VW lackin' in the phone department. I wish they would have a broader selection of phones, escpecially tri-modes . I'm coming up on two years and I believe I'm going to stick around for another 2. If I could skip around to different carriers without paying a penalty I would try ...
