New Phones- Features? + Voice Gear?
- can hear ringer though headset?
- generic headset with on/off button can
answer/terminate call?
I know that the VX4400 doesn't do either - I'm wondering if some of the newer models do.
Also, it's been about a year since I stopped using Voice Gear, and, I'm thinking about signing up for it again. I seem to recall a bug (or feature?) whereby calls to other VZW phones made thru Voice Gear are billed out of minutes and not considered In network calls. Was this / is this the case?
Most phones now have the 3rd generation voice dialing that doesn't require you to program your voice into the phone. Examples of this are the Moto V710, LG4500 and later series.
As to a generic headset with on/off switch? I don't know. We have a generic headset with on/off answer switch. It doesn't work with most phones. The on/off switch depends on the design of the phone you have. If anything I'd recommend a jabra type or a plantronics type headset. The best answer is to order a headset from the manufacturer.

VZWINAGENT is correct. Voice Gear was discontinued quite awhile back.
I wonder if it's still available in some markets... it's still on the VZW web site (under Mobile Options--> Voice Activates Svc --> Voice Gear).
