So, many people have stated that VZW's data pricing is too high. What does everyone feel would be a reasonable amoumnt?

Non Blackberry Unl Data: $25
Blackberry Unl Data: $25-30

Only reason for the potential difference is that Blackberries are constanting using a data feed. So you will prolly on avg use more data time.

That's almost half of what is being charged. But I know people would jump all over it. Especially with the quality of the data network.

For phones, PDAs, and/or laptop data cards?

I have my verizon data card and time is up. Considering jumping to Sprint's card.

I was working with a girl that had a Treo the other day. She had signed up when Verizon was running some sort of special, and she still had a $20 unlimited data package. Verizon has done it before, but they must have lost too much money doing it.

You can still get $20 data but that requires a 4000 minute plan bundle 😁

Considering Verizon caps their data at 4GB and doesn't allow streaming, 10 bucks.
...

Jul 23, 2007, 11:53 AM
Why are people so upset with the cap? If you use a pda or aircard for anything besides streaming...would you approach the 4gb limit? I"m assuming the 10 dollar pricing tag was a sarcastic remark...

Yes you can! Sprint has it for 15 bucks and its wide open, so ten bucks sounds fair 😎

sprints blackberry is 40 bucks I think. and can you tether with the $15 package? I thought u could only tether with the blackberry package.

When I meet ONE person who has ever gone over the limit...then I will complain, until, who cares about the cap.

I would go over. I have Quick2Net (sllooowwwww) but I want to get a data plan so I can use Slingbox but my two problems are data plan price and the data cap.

Sprint, here I come! I even know a hack that will let me use my i730 on Sprint, so I don't know how much longer I'm going to stay on Verizon.

I think it should be $20 unlimited no matter if it is BlackBerry or PDA. More people would sign up and verizon would make more money than they do now in the long run

say it aint so gunny! although i to was thinking about seeing if my rents would let me join their family plan at Att so I could save a little money and pay off a few credit card bills...that curve is looking mighty sweet!

Of course theres no insurance on pda's which is freakin ridiculous! I love almost everything about for verizon, but for a company this large there is no excuse for the way they lag behind in phone releases.

If you want VZW to lower the price even more than it just was earlier this month I suggest you speak to the large companies that have their data services through VZW and convince them that the lower price the other carriers charge is worth it for them, and then maybe VZW will be willing to take the loss to win them back by lowering data cost. Until then rest assured that VZW will continue to work under a business model that makes money instead of loses it(aka sprint).

If you choose the new Americas Choice w/Email plans that launched 7/1. Data is anywhere from $20-$40, based on what price point calling plan you have.

450 min 79.99 ($40 data)
900 min 99.99 ($40)
1350 min 109.99 ($30)
2000 min 129.99 ($30)
4000 min 169.99 ($20)
6000 min $20 data as well.

So everyone needs to change their plan and stop complaining. And yes, 1yr term required.

No if they are companing they need to find someone that suits their needs better. The old saying you get what you pay for and pay for what you get. If you like verizon and want to stay pay it. If you want it cheaper then go elsewere. But right now notihng is forcing them to lower. They are number one and have nothing pushing them to change!

Jul 23, 2007, 11:37 PM
Yeah, but people shouldn't have to pay for 6000 min to get competitive data rates.

$25 flat rate for unl data and Blackberry

Is that so much to ask? They would have one new data customer tommorow if they did this.

But whateva, Verizon is making money--so I guess we are at their mercy at this point.

The main reason Verizon data is so expensive, is that they can not handle the data traffic. They do not have enough bandwidth built into their system

Sprint is a global Tier 1 Internet carrier, and, as such, makes up a portion of the Internet backbone. In the United States, the company also operates the largest wireless broadband network.
Feel free to Google or Wikipedia Sprint's info.

Jul 24, 2007, 4:54 PM
so let me get this straight

you are saying this is the reason why VZW's wireless network doesn't have the capacity that Sprint's does?
...
Yean

Jul 24, 2007, 5:26 PM
Correct. Verizon Business formally UUNET is a Tier 1 too. Sprint seems to have more affiliate Tier 2 networks: Time Warner Telecom, TeleGlobe, France TeleCom, Deutsche Telekom, Broadwing, British TeleCom, Abovewing, Abovenet, and Qwest.
I believe VZW can and should allow more bandwidth through their network, but they seem to be doing GREAT, no doubt it.
Why would VZW want to change their strategy?
