Best time to re-up with VZW?

I'm due for my NE2 & want to wait a couple of weeks to see which new equipement comes out. Someone told me to only change your contract on your billing date. Is this true? I'm planning on increasing my minutes. Is it smarter to wait until your billing date or can this be done mid-cycle without a penalty.
Thanks.

It doesn't matter when you buy a new phone. But, if you're changing your calling plan there are no penalties for changing it mid cycle; you might incur overages but that is all dependant on how many minutes you used untill that mid cycle point. Lets say for example that you are on a 500 minute calling--if you change your calling plan mid cycle then you are only alloted to use 250 minutes until that mid point and we will only charge you half the cost of the calling plan since you used it only for 1/2 a month; the same happens to the remaing 1/2 of your cycle depending on what you change your calling plan to. So if you used 400 minutes untill that mid point you will get charged 150 minutes of overage(400-250)

Hope that helps

Kind of. Thanks.
But I'm going from 1200min to 2000min/month. When I called VZW Cust Svc, they told me to wait until my billing cycle. Why????

You might incur overages; its all dependant on how many minutes you have used untill the point of change. If you change exactly in the middle of your cycle and you have used 700 minutes up untill that then you will incur overages of 100 minutes because you would only be allowed to use 600 minutes(1200/2--->you only used your plan for half of a month therefore your only allowed half the minutes. For the remaining portion of the cycle you would have 1000 minutes to use(2000/2).

If you weren't explained the prorations you should go c the sales rep. If they won't wont help u ask there boss. But make sure you didn't sign anything w/the pro-rations on it first or then u definitely cannot get credited.Otherwise the best time to re-up is your bill cycle date that way there are no prorations
