Asurion-- is it true?

Is it true that Asurion replacement phones are junk? Like loose buttons, bugs (if you have a PDA), and scratches/dings?

Maybe I should seek different phone insurance...

Asurion's phones are refurbished. For the most part they work pretty well, but as you can imagine, there are a few that don't get the kinks worked out of them. With the people I've helped get phones through Asurion, I'd say they have around 85% good phones.

the treo 650 i got a few months back seems to be a little buggy, but arent all treos 🙄

There were no dings or scratches though. It was actually really nice, it looked brand new.

I've never seen a replacement phone that didn't look brand new. Hope that helps a little.

You don't always get a refurbished unit. Sometimes if your model is not available then you get a brand new replacement phone with similar feature and function. Sometimes I get a better handset than the one I've lost.

And you really can't seek a different phone insurance. Verizon only offers Asurion. There is or was Lockline, but Asurion bought them, or they merged somehow recently.

OH! They just changed their policy. Now you do NOT have to have a police report to file a claim for lost or stolen handsets.

My homeowners allows you to have phone insurance (personal possesions)

I've just heard stories of people getting crappy phones through insurance, like PDAs with messed up OS and keys that don't work.
