Could I Get Burned Waiting For the LG 8350??

SystemShock

Aug 1, 2007, 11:29 AM
Okay, it appears I'm gonna go with either the LG 8300 or the 8350 for my NE2 phone now.

My strategy is as follows:

1- Wait for the 8350 to release.

2- Try it out.

3- If it suxs, bring it back and get the 8300 and call it a day.

However, I hear now that LG is trying to deplete the stock of 8300s before releasing the 8350 (there was a recent price drop on the 8300, for example).

Given that, could I end up with a scenario where, even if I run out and get the 8350 in the first week of release, I might NOT be able to get my hands on an 8300 a couple of weeks later (i.e. after determining that the 8350 isn't 'all that')?

Any opinions based on past experience welcome. Btw, how is the 8300 supply currently?

Maybe you should get the 8300 before the 8350 comes out? Remember, you have a whole month so that's a pretty big span.

The prob is I just 'tried out' the Sammy 540, so if I get the 8300 I don't think I get to return it if I somehow, some way, don't like it (and of course I don't get to see what the 8350 is like b4 decidin').

I guess I have to wait awhile for my 'try out up to two phones in 30 days' thing to reset?

If you switch to the 8300 you will have to keep it, not be able to return it. Just return the 540 then wait till the 8350, if you dont like it ill trade you a new 8300 for it, well work something out.

Oh yeah... I forgot that indies like you tend to hang onto stocks of the older phones a bit longer than the corp stores.

Many thanks wfine... looks like I'm gonna try to wait for the 8350, and I'll rely on you for a new 8300 if the 8350 strikes out AND they're all out 8300s in my area.

You rock... thanx again. 😎

I don't think the 8350 could be as good as the 8300 is. You can kind of predict the quality of the unreleased phones by which platform they are based on (in this case the 5300).

If you want a more modern phone, try out the 8350. I am pretty certain it won't suck, but don't think it will be as good as the 8300.

A lot of people didnt think that the 8300 would be better then the 8100, and it was.

I remember the show where they announced the 8300. They also a trimmed down version called the 8400. Did that get cancelled?

I've also wondered - why didn't they have an 8200 or 8400? They seemed to have skipped over those series. Or are these phones actually available overseas?

Not sure about the 8200, but the 8400 is a concept phone that got cancelled.

shock, buy the 8300 full retail price. this way, you have 30 days to try it out and it does not affect your NE2 or your contract.

I used to do this all the time, whenever a new phone came out. If it turns out you like it enough to keep it. Just return it and then use your NE2 on it. If you don't like it, return it and get your money back and its a done deal.

you feel?

It's a great plan, only prob is I still don't know when the 8350 is comin' or if I'd like it better.

You sneaky, 'playah. Way to work the system. 😎 But I'll bet the stores aren't too happy with y'all.
