Sending Text Messages to Non-Verizon Phones
Does this mean Verizon doesn't allow sending or receiving text or pics messages to other carriers? If this is true, then the value of text messaging is diminished.

I tried sending a text message to a Sprint user. The status indicates "sent" but other text messages show a status of "delivered."

Verizon has an open text messaging service...which means we can send out to any carrier, foreign or domestic. If other carriers block those messages from getting to their phones...it's not on Verizon's side. So complain to sprint... đ
I think it is sprint's problem.
Iner-carrier text messaging is possible - SMS - but inter-carrier MMS is not. Some day it will be. All carrier's, excpet Cingular/AT&T, use the same MMS platform.
I am disappointed in not being able to send pictures.
Going back to what Rapifire was saying, I agree, it really does suck that we can't send pic/vid msgs to outside carriers. That would be awesome if we could.

If that's the case, then just call and see if she/he received it.

One day, not too far away we will.
But like other posters have mentioned, VZW does have a way to pass txt messages from one carrier to another, even overseas.
