Anything is possible, but seriously that's the last thing we need. I don't want some jerk off sending spam or other messages to my cell phone where I get charged and can't even see the number to call them back or block them with.

If it is possible, it is not at this time on verizon and I would assume never will be for precisely this reason. VZW takes a tough stance on spam to begin with. Can't imagine they'd want to make it easier to spam. After all, it does cost the company money too (research, calls to customer service, and if they're caught, lawsuits), not just customers.

In short your average everyday Joe doesn't have much of a chance o...

Just go to vtext.com, and don't sign in. Send it from there.

this isn't really relevant, but my friend used to have cricket and whenever i'd get text messages from him it would say from restricted...that's the only time i've ever seen that before, it was the strangest thing. i'd guess it has something to do with the way inter-carrier messaging works, but i'm just a lowly salesmen so i don't know the specifics.

Go to www.vtext.com. It gives you the option to send a text message and if you want to keep the message restricted, leave the From, Reply To and Callback # fields blank.

I know on my 8300, if I go into message settings and erase my call back number, then send a message nothing comes up except for the time and whatever I typed, so essentially I am sending a "restricted message"
