850MHz and 1900MHz

Does VZW have any areas that are 1900MHz only whether it's a native or roam coverage area? Would I be right if I were to say that you can get 850MHz nationwide with VZW's network because it's come to my attention that many places in at&t's coverage map is 1900MHz only which would be an inherent weakness on their part.... something at&t would be able to do little about.

Let me know if you know, thanks!

1900 mhz is the future for ALL carriers, whether it's at&t, Verizon, or some other telecom. The reason being is that 1900 provides clearer communications, less interference, and better data.

850 (cellular) is still tops in coverage and in-building penetration, but the movement is clearly toward PCS for everyone.

I have actually roamed off of Verizon PCS on my new Powersource phone and the call quality is way better than on their standard cellular network.

yeah but regular customers are easier to deal with when you put them on 850MHz

most of my customers would be happy with analog if it worked better... no joke! 😛

I still say GSM PCS is the tops in call clarity, IF you don't drop the call! 😉

In my area 1900 is the only coverage, 850 only phones will not work at all, they just say "searching for service".

There use to be, even now, in a lot of phones you can turn off the "PCS" signal.

There are only a couple areas in the country that are 1900 only, I happen to live in one (which has never caused me a problem).

Last I heard it was approx 85% of the network has both signals and about 15% has pcs only.

well if it doesn't cause a problem, that's a lot better than what I've been hearing about at&t's 1900 only areas!

Yeah, since day 1, where I live, it has been 1900, I have literally never had a problem (Central Florida), reception is great, better then any other carrier around here.
