v3m discussion

Why do most people bash the v3m? It works well for me as a phone, email device, for getting info from mobile web etc. Its also small and fits well in my pocket...

The only real improvement could be the battery life, but that is the complaint of most cell phone users...

Anyway, with the upcoming release of the v9m, I thought us v3m users could discuss our likes and dislikes...

Also, do any v3m users plan to jump to the v9m or will you keep your v3m for awhile longer?

Thanks
Mark

Ok...but what are the main issues and problems when people return the phone?

White screen, bad battery life (as you mentioned), people hate the keypad, screen goes out and looks "fuzzy" (like when the cable goes out), charging issues (incompatiable charger/battery). No vibrate and ring, iTap, (more of a design flaw the last 2)

Just to list a few.

point well taken...but other phones dont have the same type of issues (not talking about the keyboard, itap, or vib & ring which is a verizon issue)?

Wll, there are a lot of phones that are "buggy", but the flat keyboard is pretty much exclusive ot the razr (8600 and 8700 have it too), itap is exclusive to Motorolas, the only Motorola that has been out in a looooong time that has vib and ring is the new 385.

I think that the razr has a higher % of phones with problems, coupled with the fact that so many were sold really multiplied the returns on them.

remember it was the highest selling phone in the country in Q2 this year (between all carriers I believe)...

Yes it was, but percentages are still percentages.

It had the "cool" factor working for it there for a long time.

If I sell 10,000 razrs and 2,500 of them get returned that means there is a 25% return ratio on it.

If I sell 1,000 of something else and there are 100 of them returned then tehre is a 10% return on it.

Mark, the V3m isn't going to have the same return rate as the V3. I sold Cingular and now I sell Verizon Wireless. I can say based on my experience that this RAZR's failure rate is far worse. Consider yourself lucky to have a V3m that works well.

You gotta remember Mark that you are using 1 Motorola V3m. You can get lucky. If you had 10 of them, you'd definitely have a few with problems.

For us sales reps, it's not worth the hassle of getting so many returns.

but you sell so much of them that you almost have to expect returns right?

But there is a higher percentage of returns.

For example at my store there is about a 1% return on the LG 8300 (currently the best phone out there)

And about a 25% return ration on the razr.

And it's not just the number of returns. The customers who return RAZRs tend to be angrier too. 😲

They also sell a s**tload of LG 8300s too and hardly any of those come back.

So when you sell and equal amount of V3m's and 8300's, and a lot more V3m's get returned, what does that tell you?

Well lets see.

No ring and vibrate
slow,slow menus
likes to freeze
screen goes out
outside screen is terrible
batttery life is terrible
can't change ugly outside screen
keys stop working
unauthorized charger

and the #1 reason......
I get about 25% defective return rate on thiese things, not to mention the countless number that are broken or liquid damaged because the phone does not hold up well.

as mentioned earlier if you get a good one it is not a bad phone, but the defective rate is horrible and many reps are in this forum, and there is nothing worse than all these people coming in and complaining about there equipment all the time. That is why most reps sell lg, they may not always get the best signal or have the be...

Just looked at the specs for the newly released v9m...no mobile email yet, and no espn mvp yet. Why would they release this new phone without these apps being ready? The v3m looks even better now...

Because verizon wanted to jump the gun on releasing the phone like they do with almost all of the new phones

People are going to be upset when they realize their brand new expensive phone initially does less than their old phone...especially email and espn mvp...

I have a v3m now and haven't had any problems with it. Battery is better than I thought it would be (still not great, but better than i was told). The call clarity is ok, reception is good enough, and it has a decent speakerphone.

with all that being said I'll never get another motorola. Even with all the problems I HAVEN'T had, its still not as good a phone as my 9800 or my 8000 before that. It was anovelty when it was the only really thin phone, but now everyone has a phone in similar size that does more or does it better.

I don't see why moto keeps releasing the same phone over and over again with a rediculous price and doesn't seem to actually improve anything. I like a 2 megapixel camera and a big outside display as much as t...
