New Every Two Question

Just Yakin

Sep 1, 2007, 12:52 PM
I have had the privilege of having verizonwireless service since about 1996 with no late payments or anything negative on my account. My new every two will be up 10/19/07. I have been holding off till then to purchase a new phone but last night it finally broke. Do you think or is it even possible for any kind of help from VZW on this situation. I would possibly like to get the new razr2 if possible. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Your New Every Two may actually already be available.

Verizon back in June changed the policy so that you get your NE2 20 months into your contract, not 22 months like it used to be. Unfortunately, some reps and customer service guys still don't know a...

PS- In a lot of cases MyAccount (you know, your online Verizon account) has not been updated to show the 20 month upgrade/NE2 date. So don't go by that. Go by when your contract actually started.

Yes, in that case, you're eligible for an upgrade already, assuming you're on a 2-yr contract and are going to re-up for another 2 years.

HOWEVER, actually getting said upgrade may require some persistence. Check out my adventures with getting my own 20 month upgrade:

pretty well known issue now,i have had no issues as of late getting those to go through at my store. the only problem you may run into is if you are trying to do it online, i don't beleive they have updated the whole system yet so you willneed to go into a store or telesales.

i work at verizon and it would be highly recommended that you wait til your date. if verizon gives you the early upgrade you lose your ne2 eligibility and only get regular two year price. just find a cheap phone from ebay or go to indirect store and see if they have any used phones but it is well worth it to just buy a piece of crap and wait.

That is actually incorrect. The policy is that not only can you get the upgrade at 20 months now, but you get your NE2 ALSO at 20 months, too.

Check out this thread to see my adventures with this:

SystemShock is correct if you CED is 12/22/07 you are eligible for your NE2 as of 8/22/07 which is 20 months from your last upgrd or 4 months before your CED should have no problems now since it has been in effect since 6/01/07

I don't know about 'no problems'. There are apparently plenty of Verizon personnel who are ignorant of the new policy still, or who believe incorrectly that you get only the upgrade at 20 months, not the NE2 (when in fact you do get both @ 20 months).

The guy might have to be pretty persistent and go to a couple of different VZW stores before some rep who's actually up on policy finally gets it right. I had to. ☚ī¸

Shock is correct, 20 months now vs 22 months before. We have to manually change the upgrade reason from NE2 to M2 and discount the handset...

I do it every day at my kiosk...

Thanks for all the help. I talk with VZW and I did get the NE2. Im getting the new razr2 for $150 which i didn't think was to bad. Also for renewing my contract, i get an additional 2000 minutes as an overdraft protection which was pretty cool I thought. Again thanks!

There was no Verizon Wireless in 1996, you probably had AirTouch or PrimeCo or Bell Atlanic, etc. Verizon could care less what you had before 2000.
