Att is offering a function that allows their customers to limit sms and call usage. Here is the link to the article.

Thoughts??

I think that VZW will come back and push the fact that we have unlimited messaging and that in network calling gives kids and others unlimited usage of phones.

I think it is a good idea. Just because Unlimited texting is offered doesn't mean your kids should just be given the right to do it. Kids still need limits and boundaries. And parents still need to do some parenting.

You need to teach kids to monitor their cell usage and this is a good way to start them on that path early.

I read an article a year ago that linked cell phones to smoking. Kids are using both hands to send so many text messages that they can't light a cigarette. Teen smoking is going down because of text messaging. Isn't that worth an unlimited package?

if you are using texting to control your kid not smoking then you have WAAAAAAYYYY too many issues with your parenting.

Parents should teach and mold their kids mind. If a kids gonna smoke, they're gonna smoke most likely because how they were raised and what they were taught at early age. Texting might just curb the amount of smoking, but probably won't deter a kid from starting to smoke.

I think these plans are great, and will prolly be a nice feature for parents.

I don't have any kids, but I do reference that article a lot when kids are trying to convince their parents to get a text messaging package.

i dont have kids either...but, I had some pretty good parents and sometimes I feel like people ignore their parenting duties and just look for the easy way out.

If you teach your kids how to manage their min/texts, they will be much better off in the long run

It's not my job to care if someone is a good parent or not. It's my job to sell them that text package.

yeah, thats cool...and if I worked in the industry, trust me, I could care less about parenting...I would just sell them the best solution for their family or single line.

But since im not in the industry, I guess I can look at this situation from a slightly different perspective.
