8830 setting off store anti-theft units?
a lady just told me this, and tho I didn't have an actual account, she has to tell different stores as she enters that her phone will set off their devices, and further that it will do so again when she leaves; KINDA big hassle. Tech peeps know if this may be due to the combination of technologies? lemme know, thanks!

😳 🤣
No, that is not happening, she is just using that as an excuse to steal stuff.
...
I realize this may be the case, but she said it happened upon entering the store as well. 👀
or maybe I believe people too easily. ðŸ¤

No, I've heard of this before. Some phones do set off security gates. I don't think its common, but I've heard of it. Tell her to try a new unit and see what that does for her.

thanks; it would be a warranty issue with RIM then, would it not? she has had it for more than a month, I believe.

Yeah, but Direct Shipment Replacement, or a corp store should swap it out.

Maybe someone stuck a sensor behind her battery backdoor as a prank?
...
I once thought a new phone was doing the same thing, turned out to be a sensor that was lightly stitched into a new pair of jeans.

is she wearing the holster that came with the 8830? i know that there are two magnets in it...maybe that's what is setting the alarm off, just my best guess 😛

she was; that may be.

Maybe she has some Hollister clothes and forgot to cut the tag out from the shirt! LOL
