So I finally got a blackberry...
And it's on the att network...where the voice quality is atrocious!!! I'm still keeping my treo on verizon for personal use, but our company just completed a blackberry rollout for all sales associates.
I just wanna say that after making a few calls, verizon truly is a much better network, att has a "tin can" sound to it, like you're talking in a tunnel. Not a huge fan, but i guess for a free BB with unlimited minutes, its not that bad.

They gave us the old school 7290...and being the phone junkie that I am, I'm already tryin to find out if I can buy a curve at my own expense and use it with our blackberry enterprise server.

Why get a G'Zone anyway? For Gunny, it's good because he's constantly doing outdoors things, but as a backup phone it's idiotic. Here's why:
It's expensive. Get a Tracfone at WalMart for $10 instead.
It may be waterproof, but it's not idiot-proof. If you drop it in a lake, it may work, but you will never see it again. A $10 Tracfone? Who cares?

A free blackberry is always a good thing, sad that you have to have it AT&T's network. I've always been baffled at why the majority of people cannot discern what you call the "tin can" aura. It bothers me. Kudos for having a good sense of sound.

yeah, all my family has att, and I am the only one with verizon...whenever I call their cells, I can always tell the difference in call quality. Who cares about switchin sim cards, when your everyday calls sound terrible.

lol...yeah you're tellin me...dude, my boss before he got his new this week,had a blackberry that didn't even have a color screen! It was hilarious, and I work for the 2nd largest office supply company in the country! (too bad their cheap as hell)

They were pretty cool back in the day (way back) but now they just look funny. (No send/end keys, only 2 way scrolling, not sure if the keys are backlit)

yeah the keys are backlit...and they are pretty old...my mom actually has the same one for her work, but her's is a nextel version.

i completely agree with you. if you dont already know i have the iphone as well as my 8300, and there is just no competition at ALL. When i'm driving on the highway talking on the iphone, people are like, "Put the windows up!!", while they aren't even down lol. Then I call em back with the 8300 and everything is fine.
it goes both ways too, people just don't sound crystal clear to me on the iphone, i am spoiled with the sound clarity of the 8300 and Verizon in general

Nice to see you got a BB but to bad for ATT service. I was surprised to read Gunny was looking at getting a BB since he loves those Gzones. You can't beat free for the BB.
I like my 8703e for Vzw it is sonice but wished it was smaller and had a camera for those quick shots maybe in November with the 8103 rumor mill says will be out?
