How to accomplish the goal?

Just wondering if anyone would like to give me any advice on how to accomplish what I need to do. In order to do that successfully, here's a brief history.

I am a United States Navy Veteran, current cancer patient, and an overly nice person. I made the grave mistake of adding someone onto my account for a secondary line. Long story short, phone forever lost, no current usage on that line in over seven months, just riding the contract out.

contract end dates: primary 12/24/2007
secondary 06/20/2008

Ultimately, I want to only have one line. I want to upgrade my primary line, which will be due soon, but to only keep one line, I would most likely need to drop the primary in dec to finally be back to one line...

While this may be a little to the left of the solution you were looking for, you could always just transfer the secondary line to someone else. If you have a friend/family member who wants a phone, you can do a transfer of responsibility to put the secondary line in their name. All the contract dates on that line would remain the same, but they would be responsible for it instead of you. Since the phone's gone, they could get a cheap one off ebay.

I used to work in the retention dept and I know that I allowed customers to add the time on the contract to the primary line that was out of contract and then drop the secondary line that was still in contract without a penalty.

Call customer service in December and ask to sign a new contract on your line (that will be out of contract) and ask to drop the unused line without penalty. If the rep that you speak to doesn't understand ask for a supervisor.

Also on a morbid note, if you are terminally ill Verizon will cancel without an ETF provided that you send a letter from your doctor (I hope this isn't the case for you!).

Good luck!
