Verizon vs. Alltel vs. Helio

I currently have vzw and am considering the move to another carrier. I like a lot of people are getting a little tired of verizon not throwing us a bone (early calling, my faves, my circle, rollover, unlimited minutes) And of course a lame UI even with flash its still a little lame. In addition the phone lineup is not up to par, I know vzw is coming out with some pretty cool phones in the future (vx 10000, u900, i760) but when?
So I wanted some advice... Has anyone had any of these other carriers? How well do they compare to Vzw? Whats the customer service like? Call clarity? Any advice would be much appreciated...

AT&T, good sir. Verizon and AT&T are the only decent carriers.

But Helio is good if you need Unlimited minutes. Other than that, keep Verizon or go to AT&T.

I agree but I don't like GSM lol. I have alltel and very very happy. Like I have said we used almost 2000 min last month. 270 something was anytime 100 something was n/w and the rest were m2m which was mostly mycircle. And if you liek JD Powers they tied verizon in the south. I think they are BS but so many like them on this forum.

I'd rather wrestle a pack of rabid wolverines nude in a field of cactus before using ATT. 😳

I don't know anything about Helio.

In my area, Alltel just dropped it's agreement to roam off of Verizon's towers. Alltel's coverage is going to be dropping fast if it keeps doing things like that. It doesn't help that it's being run by private investors looking to sell.

As for the my circle or faves or whatever, don't expect Verizon or AT&T to do that. They already have 1/4 or better of the cell phone customers. That's not combined. Combined, they have over half of all cell phone customers. With unlimited IN, there is no reason to add something like my circle. Adding a feature like my circle would just give Verizon and AT&T customers an excuse to get a lower plan. It's not going to happen.

If you're going to switch, you w...

they dropped verizon for a few reasons. They cost too much just like they charge to much for their plans. ANd they signed with sprint. I don't care what any of you say sprint has a better footprint then verizon. I have alltel and they are great. You can still roam with verizon its just a low priority on the PRL. Sprint is number 2 for all areas they serve.

Second if the investors are looking to sell they are going to improve them and make them better not worse as they won't get much if they are worse then when they started. Come on now!

People have forgot to mention that Helio usually uses Sprint's network and Verizon Wireless in other areas. So the OP would have to make sure that Sprint is well covered in his or her area, before looking at Helio.

Alltel can't roam off Verizon towers in my area anymore either. Companies obviously have their strong and weak areas. However, in Montana, being allowed to roam off Sprint's towers won't do a bit of good. Alltel is just being cheap. I think they'll end up selling, and everyone will gave to go through all the BS that happened when Alltel bought Cellular One.

Looking in the PRL for alltel verizon is in it. Just priority 5 or 6. And alltel is not going to be sold again anytime soon. If they were to be bought by a carrier they would have bought them before an investor did as that is what they do buy and make it worth more then sell.
