I need help please!

Ok - I have a dilemma. I am a current Verizon customer who is ready to upgrade my phone with the New Every Two deal. I need a phone without a camera due to my work. All I am looking for is a non-camera, flip phone with an external display. I prefer Motorola or Samsung. This phone does not seem to exist in any Verizon store.

Now - Radio shack is selling the Motorola V260, which I would love to have. I even went to the RS store and got one - but returned it the next day because they lied about honoring the New Every Two (they did not - so they ended up chaging me for the phone). Verizon stores are not carrying the V260 and no one can say when or even if they might! I really feel cheated if I have to pay the new customer price fo...

Forgot to mention - I would like the phone to be tri-mode as well. Not too many requirements huh? πŸ™‚

Well, a couple suggestions if you don't mind my 2 cents, I work for T-Mobile(cust care), but my best friend works for Verizon(retail), and heres what he had to say (for your criteria):
Samsung SCH-A650, tri mode
SCH A670, dual mode
SCH A530, dual mode

Motorola V265, tri mode
V60s, tri mode

(and if you decide to take a walk on the wild sideπŸ™‚
LG VX3200, tri mode (even has a speaker phone)
VX4500, dual mode

Thank you very much for your suggestions. Unfortunately, the Samsung A530 is discontinued on the Verizon web site, the A650 does not have an external display, the A670 is a camera phone (a no-no for me), the Motorola V265 has a camera, the V6...

Actually the LG-4500 is not that bad of a phone. I've had one for several month's and despite the fact it's all-digital/dual-mode, it's worked everywhere I've needed it to...even out in the sticks! I get great battery life, great audio quality, and it's very user friendly. Give it a try...you can always return it under the buyer's remorse period. Or as someone else suggested, try to buy the Motorola you like on the VZW website. Good luck!

I think I am going to stop by Verizon on the way home tonight and try out the LG 4500. Like you pointed out, there is a 15 day trial period. I've been doing some research on the different models folks have suggested and this one is the closest to what I want. I just concerned about calls being dropped but it sounds like you do not have that problem.

I cannot find the Motorola V260 I want even on Verizon's website. The only place to find it is at Radio Shack.

Thanks everyone!

Yes, there have been several people looking for the same phone features for several months now: flip phone, NO CAMERA, tri-mode, external id.

Verizon isn't listening, their phone selection is driven by marketing, where revenue from pictures is much more profitable than selling talk time. A recent new article stated that the market/revenue for phone cameras/pictures was only half of what was predicted 18 months ago.

I tried the LG 4600 but ended up sending it back, as the charge only lasted about 48 hours. The LG also wouldn't answer/hang up from a headset, another feature I wanted which seems to be missing from most LG phones. It's a pain to remove the phone from a holster, open and press a key to answer while driving or to chang...

did it not have an option on the phone to set auto-answer? (for instance when you have your headset on, my last phone, motorola V300, could be set to automatically answer the call after 1,3,or 5 rings, but it would not let me answer it any other way with the headset other than opening it and pressing a button, that was a pain.

yes, it had an autoanswer feature. I mentioned it in my post but it got cutoff somehow. The problem then arises that you may not want it to always autoanswer after 3 rings (say you're in the john or a business meeting or left the phone on your desk πŸ™‚) It becomes a pain to turn off autoanswer when you don't want it.

hm.. i think if you wait for the V260, it should come out on VZW. I don't see why it wouldn't. I think it's just because they're promoting the V265 for $50 right now and RS has it exclusively, for now, that's why it hasn't come out yet. that's just my opinion. you can't go wrong with the v260 when it comes to reception. i have the v265 currently. reception has been great..
