Brickbreaker comes standard on all Black Berry's, does verizon strip this out? Also does verizon allow all third party apps to be used on BIS? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

I have the 8830 from Verizon. It came with Brickbreaker. Not sure what programs you are looking to load but I have loaded a couple through BIS.

ArmyBerry thanks for your response.

I'm new to the Black Berry world and I'm currently shopping around for a BB/ carrier. I've just read so many stories about verizon crippling this or that 😕 I don't want to be stick with a nice BB that can't do the same as a Tmobile BB.

If you (or anyone) have any other insight in this matter it would be much appreciated.

I have an 8700 from T-Mobile for work which is a great phone. I have the 8830 from Verizon as my personal phone. I love the 8830 as well.

My biggest recommendation would choose a carrier first based on who has the best coverage in your area. My 8830 gets data and voice in places the T-Mobile can't...even in the Metro system of D.C. The phone and its capabilities will do you no good if you can not get service.

The only thing I notice that was disabled on the VZW is the GPS chip. Yes, it seems insane given that it is an internal chip. They are supposedly going to release an upgrade that fixes it but only time will tell. I do not really use it but would love the option. If I really needed it now, I could get a GPS puck. ...

Great info!

Well- You helped me make up my mind...I've been with verizon since they called themselves AirTouch, almost ten years now. I live in Seattle so I know tmobile works well out here, and it's hard to beat their data prices, Plus they're getting the Curve on sep24...but it won't have EVDO...so since you tell me verizon isn't crippling their BB, I guess I'll just wait for the Pearl in Nov....even though I really want the Curve 😢 😢

I definitely don't want a PDA, I was just inquiring about apps to make sure I wasn't restricted from certain downloads.

I'm still torn because at Tmobile I can get 2 lines with unlimited email/data, and unlimited text for 60 bucks 😲 verizon is much more.

Why oh Why did I have to see the...

If you get a PDA with Sprint, data is only $15 for unlimited. Note that this is not for Blackberries. This is for Windows Mobile and Palm phones.

But if you're deadset on a Blackberry, Verizon is pretty good.
