Sprint is in the works of BETA testing an LG enV like phone. The HTC Touch WILL be in Sprint 4th quarter.

non pda???

ALL the touch screen phones out are ALL pda's! Duh!
the iphone is a pda, the voyager is a pda, the i760 is a pda, the 6800 is a pda, ....
what touch screen phone is not a pda? the only main differences are the operating system. Either winmobile, symbian, apple, or some other proprietary os. they all are pretty capable of the same basic tasks: internet, email, photos, music, videos, etc.

just pick your poison.

You are joking right. DUH! I send that right back to you, the voyager is not a pda. My 8700 has a calender on it so does that make it a pda.

So if the voyager and iphone are full blown pda's why do they have different data packages available from their carries then?

I heard the touch wasn't even that great...I heard it was laggy and could only be used for certain screens. Then you have to use the stylus.

I still think buttons is the way to go, they are easier to use and they save time...and isn't that what biz phones are all about.

Sprint's HTC Touch is VERY fast compared to the 2.5G GSM phone abroad. I agree with buttons, but Sprint and HTC have made 3 or 4 different forms of typing or texting.

well yeah first time users its difficult..you have to get use to it..same thing for the treo when i first started typing on it...now i do it without looking you just have to get use to it.

yeah, i have a treo to...and it took about 3 minutes before I was smokin out some text messages. The learning curve for the iphone is much steeper. But whatever, until it comes out for verizon, the iphone really isnt on my radar at the moment

yeah but the touch is on mine since i have sprint and its a similar interface...i dont see the voyager reallly competing on that all touch level its just a env with a touchfront its still no pda its a smartphone

its not tryin to be a pda...people are incorrectly giving it that title.

And you can't say "its just an env with touchscreen"...its a lot more than that, and the phone made some HUGE improvements over the 9900

Thats like saying football is just simply putting a brown ball into an endzone. I think we all know its more complicated than that.

html browsing, improved interface, more storage, sleeker design, and the touchscreen.

I would say those are pretty big changes. Like I said, you can simplify anything you want, but I really don't think your being objective and taking a fair look at the phone.

it is a great phone..adding touchscreen is a big ticket..but it still doesnt compete with the touch or iphone...maybe with sprints lg260

it definitely competes with the iphone and the touch is a pda...so its not in this conversation at all

You really should be comparing a treo or something like that to the touch.

Your insane if you don't think this phone competes with the iphone. and at $250 or so its more affordable for almost the same feature set on a better network with faster data.

I hate to end our little convo, but I really gotta get back to some work...lol

I guess we'll just have to wait until november to see how this phone really does...

I don't see how anyone can say this will not compete with the iphone, even if you break down specs, obviously their is pros and cons for both devices and obviously there will be some big differences. But both phones will be targeting the same market segments and bring a lot to the table. The physical keyboard is huge to me i text a lot and being able to send my own ringtones is also very helpful. I also don't like all the restrictions on the iphone, it is one of the most restricted phones on any carrier(which is funny considering all the trolls coming in here and screaming about that on Verizon phones) Not to mention the rediculous battery policy and the fact you have no option for data package you have to take one. I am not saying the iphon...

Of course it competes with the iPhone.... at least until the iPhone fixes its major missing features/probs:

- No 3G (ooh, EDGE is so fast. Not.)
- No MMS (wtf?)
- No voice-calling
- No GPS
- Much more crippled Bluetooth than what most new Verizon phones have
- A virtual keyboard with tiny lil' keys that are hard to hit, that you can't even use in landscape mode (which has bigger keys) 'cept in one app (Safari)

The iPhone could have been a total killshot, but Apple definitely slipped up on some things.
