New RAZR V3m Software 10/05/07
I just got the new V3m software flashed into my phone at my local corporate store.
Version: 24.1_01.19.05
No more lag, ADDED brightness control, split EV/1X bar indicator like LG's, etc. Seems to have all the new features. 🙂
Had to do a *228 option 1 to re-program phone after load.
DOES RING AND VIBRATE !!!! You turn on vibrate separately from the ring. Very Cool update!

Is this update available at all Verizon stores? Does it cost anything? I love my V3m, but the lag has been a negative. The update sounds like a winner.

It is free! just call your local verizon store first to make sure they have it!

I called 5 corporate stores here in the Long Island NY market and all of them say the last update was November of 2006.

They are behind the times. VZW TEch support told me about it. Released mid September.
BTW, you can put any picture you want on the front screen, also. It stores your music and Pictures in slightly different folders on your SD card. It moved the music, I had to manually move my pictures using my computer. The navigation key uses different motions for stepping through letters using iTap. for example, right movement accepts the predicted word, up changes it. It has a memory warning meter for too many text messages, too!
The big thing (I found)is brightness control. Much brighter. I'm not going to consider a new phone now!!! it's got all I need.
The separate on/off of vibrate along with any ringer, both for calls, text, pix messages if ...

Wow that really sounds nice.
This really makes it a much more versatile phone.
I had retired my RAZR and got an LG 8700 but now I am noticing that the sound quality of the LG is starting to annoy me. To hear someone in a noisy setting, you have to make it loud and when it is loud, it distorts so I temporarily re-activated my (like new) V3M.
This might push me over the edge to keep it and sell the very new 8700.
I wonder what mountains I have to move to get this new release sent to me local store(s)?

They are supposed to have it. It was released at least 3 weeks ago. Give Tech support a call and ask them exactly when. I surprisingly got a white screen (actually the FTS screen) when changing a battery several times. It had gone into the test mode, which I figured out how to exit from HOFO. TS told me about the new software release, and the store said they had it but loaded the old one again. No surprise test screen, but the old SW. Called every week and they got it in last week.

I called VZW and they were pretty useless in telling me when the stores here would get the software. They called my local stores and the techs acted kind of brain dead.
I guess I need to press them a bit more or go into a store and ask the tech support people to call someone when I am face-to-face.

Ok I finally called a store near me and specifically asked if the had the release by actual software number 24.....etc.
That said yes so later today I will drive there to see if it is true.

I am very angry.....I went to the store and the guy said "yeah we have it then he proceeded to load the exact same software on the phone.
Calls to Customer service *611 were useless. All they offer to do is call the same store.
They said the last release was November 2006 and they have not received the software yet which does not come from Verizon but comes directly from Motorola to them.

Thanks - at least I am not crazy but I don't think I will update it myself, I'd rather have a store do it so I don't void my warranty.
i just can't believe the inconsistencies from store to store regarding when they get it.
I am deciding on whether to sell my LG 8700 or re-activate my "only used 3 months" RAZR V3M. I am thinking that I like the sound quality on the RAZR better. I am finding that the sound on the 8700 is a bit too shrill and could almost be tinny.
To make matters worse, when you raise the volume up on the 8700, it distorts.

I dunno if it will help but the Glendora,CA store has the software. I know they all should have it. My local store goofed once and re-loaded the old software. I asked them to confirm which software number they had the second time!
I didn't like wasting the hour, but I got to fiddle with all the new phones, make calls on each, and realize that the sidetone and audio of Motorola phones is very good.
One new feature I found is in the voice recognition. "Check time" and it reads the time and date. I bicycle a lot in the islands (long distance) and it's easy to touch the BT headset button (using the scala rider on a bicycle helmet) and check the time.
The new software seems a bit less friendly to remember frequent used words, but better i...

Well I am almost thinking that the tech at the store you went to, downloaded it from HOFO or Motorola itself because I can't find it anywhere.
I many have to mail you my phone to take to the same store..... 😛

FYI I went to my local corp store today and they hadn't heard of the release. They checked their update book and it said that it had been pushed to them. The first tried their update software and it reloaded the same software I already had. The tech then tried a different Motorola update software (just judging from the fact that he had to ask someone else how to get it to load). It did have the update. So you may have to tell them to double check for it.
The guy I was dealing with seemed excited because he also had a v3m and had the old software on it. After he updated mine he said he was doing his. The only major problems I've found with the update is all of the ringtones I had downloaded are gone. I don't know if this is becaus...

What is the corp store location where you got it? I am going to push this with customer service tomorrow now that I know Captain Jeff got his and if you can let me know which store - I'll get it.
