A little 411 first. My wife and I both have Treo 700WX's on Verizon. Both are updated to the most recent updates as of today and both have been hard reset and reprogrammed (*228 both options). Also, this problem occurs in EVDO signal areas and 1XRTT areas though seems to be more in 1XRTT only because we live in an 1XRTT area. And it happens whether we have a full signal, half - whatever, doesn't matter. Verizon has "sent techs to the area" to test for this problem multiple times...same thing every time, they don't find a problem; they've "reset the master switch" on their end multiple times, same problem - basically we've stopped complaining to them about it as it's obvious they are not capable of resolving it.
So, as the subject says, t...

Sorry to hear about the problems with vzw. That must be horrible. I cant give you any advice on how to fix it with verizon - but one thing I did learn when I moved from vzw to att recently [iphone] was that ATT will give you 30 days to try out their network and during that 30 days vzw will try like HECK to get you back. Once I left vzw sent me letter after letter and called a few times. They offered me free phones {blackberry 88something and a chocolate}, waiving activation fees and even a free month of service. So I say - SWITCH...and if att sucks just as bad - at least you can go back to vzw and know they will give you just about everything for coming back including waiving your 175 termination fee. 🙂

Also, the fact that VZW would have to rebuild the account from scratch would also be a plus. If I had a customer have this problem, (haven't seen this in about four years), I would have the customer just a whole new number and this would fix the problem. But I haven't seen this problem for quit a while...

well for my line of work having a new phone number would be devestating...Can't do that anyway.
...
Well...it seems you need to have your phone account re-built. Its def not the coverage/area...
Ask to speak w/an actual wireless data tech rep, instead of customer service reps. You could also be dealing w/"outside" tech reps who have no clue.

I agree with have the account rebuilt. It's the best thing for problems like this. They need to start from the ground up!

My only suggestion would be to suggest that everyone you know who have been having this problem call and complain. "Calls go to voice mail with out ringing through." Frequently.
Try to get up to a network level tech support person, or at least a true tech who works with the switch.
I had a problem once that was in the switch that housed my particular phone number. Another person who was sitting right next to me with a number from a different switch, didn't have the problem.
I was out of my normal service area. I got on a landline and worked with a tech, swapped phones/numbers, and the problem followed the phone number. It got elevated, and finally they did a software reload on a set of switches. Problem solved.
Sometimes getting pa...

Win Mobile devices are the least reliable PDA's. It's like using your computer 24/7 and not expecting it to glitch. If you've tried swapping the phone with VZW, replacement after replacement... then I would demand a better phone. Suggestion.. move to the new Blackberry or do what the other guy said, switch and VZW will offer you a new BB... either way a new Blackberry is in your future with VZW.
Palm is getting less reliable these day, both the 700p and 700w(x) are pretty bad. Maybe that is why VZW is holding out on that Palm 755p that Sprint launched ages ago... they are tired of replacing crap with crap.

Tried BB's - I need a real business device not a pass through solution. Plus, I have apps that I need for my business that do not run on BB's.
The palm version of the treo would work for me though and I have tried it and prefer the WM device (just the way it works is more useful to me). Even if it were a decent solution though, some of the folks we talk to that have this problem are on 700P's - so no solution there either.
But thanks for the suggestions.

You mentioned you will be sitting at your desk working? Does this desk, by chance, have a computer running at it. The closer you are to the CPU, the higher chance you have of the phone not ringing. This is because of the interference created by the CPU. This has happened to me several times, but ONLY when I have had my phone too close to my CPU. I do understand that this can be frustrating because you likely require the cell phone to be near the computer to work, so I suggest cradling it as far from your CPU as possible. It truly is an electrical signal blocking the network from receiving the "ping" from your phone (The ping is how the phone tells the network where to find it) and therefore the phone does not ring. At this time, simply becau...

Should have mentioned, I come from Sys Admin / IT work - quite familiar with these issues...not the issue, but thanks for the suggestions 🙂

Happy to help and I'm sorry this doesn't help. I would like to mention though that I was a technician with the company for a year before moving up. I have dealt with this many times with customers and at home myself. You have indicated you do not know the answer, but seem positive that this is not it. I can assure you of one thing though; VZW wants you to get your calls. The network is optimized time and time again to ensure the best call quality and that you can get your calls. There is not a switch that someone is refusing to flip. When situations arise such as the one you are describing, it is not VZW refusal to help, it is VZW doing it's best to overcome the environment, be it electrical, topographical, structural, etc. I do wish you the...

I read several of the post and I to have had problems with my Voicemails and missed calls on my Blackberry. I did what these people have suggested and so far so good. I had them rebuild my account on there end from scratch. they deleted everything. I had to set my voicemail up once again which was no big deal. Seems to works so far.
But I do agree it is a network thing. I also love VZW and do not want to switch. My contract is up on the 16th this month so I might look at options also
