NE2 + switching?

My phone does not always work in my office, so I would like to try AT & T and then make a decision (Verizon has been great otherwise). I am up for renewal; if I switch to AT & T, do not like it, and come back to VZW, do I get the $100 discount? (I want to keep the same number.) If I try a new phone on VZW, with the NE2 discount, is the 30-day trial still in place?

Sign up with ATT with a new number, try it out, if it works, then port your number to ATT, if it doesnt then just cancel ATT within the trial period.
