Interesting read, though I think Wi-Max could be tough to compete with, due to its great range. But its not here yet, won't be for awhile, while 3G is starting to be deployed.

I actually was watching TechTV a few months ago and they were doing specials on VoIP and comparing the different carriers that would be offering it. They mentiond that Wi-Fi [Wi-Max?] cell phones could be the wave of the future eliminating cell towers. They said that the only drawback would be hacking but they are supposedly working on that.
Interestingly, Ericsson has just joined the Wi-Max forum. Hmm...
