Verizon to pay $1 million over deceptive "unlimited" EVDO plans

The case of the limited "unlimited" EVDO has been settled: Verizon has agreed to pay out $1 million to customers that it has terminated for overuse of its high-speed data service. New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo made the announcement today, saying that Verizon's decision came after a nine-month investigation into the company's services and marketing practices. The attorney general accused Verizon of producing misleading materials and deceptive marketing when it claimed that its data plans were unlimited.

What's that? about $80 to each of the 13000 people they cut. Somehow I don't think they will get all warm and fuzzy over that, but hey, it's better than nothing.

Yeah. A gift card to a service that they were terminated from. Sounds about right.

OMG! Plooky posted something that is on topic! Too bad he was late to the party as it was already posted... And he got the name wrong, as this is about Verizon Wireless, not just Verizon... but then again he thinks they are the exact same thing.. 🙄

Oh yeah, and btw the setlement was for any customer that had the service terminated and did not reactivate is getting a full refund for their equipment. If service was reactivated on the equipment they get nothing.
