Is it just me....?
Am I the only one that thinks that all of verizons newer phones are way too expensive and fragile? What ever happened to the times when you could get a nice phone for like 20-70 dollars? And why are all the phones so fragile? It seems like if you drop an 8700 once its a gonner. Whatever happened to good old trusty lgs? Instead we have crap like the 8350.... yuck! why cant we get phones that we could actually drop and not have to scream and try and catch it.
Like the LG 6100 or even the 5300... etc. those phones are practically indistructable. Now you drop your razor once in a parking lot and oops you need a new phone!

As far as the fragile part, you do realize that verizon doesn't make the phones? Also comparing phones like the razr and the 8700 to phones like the 6100 and 5300 is ridiculous. The 8700 and razr are slim phones with smaller structures...including the hinges. The 6100 and 5300 are "bigger, chunkier" (compared the the razr)phones so they have larger hinges. No phones are indestructible except for the G'zone... maybe. You drop any phone the right way and its over. Newer phones are getting larger price tags because the have more capabilities whether it be a better camera or mp3... there still an electronic piece of equipment. The nicer they are, the more you pay.

Drop your PSP & then go complain in a Sony forum. See what happens? Phones are getting high-end as they are now "lifestyle" devices. Once you could live without your phone. Not anymore.

I can't believe you want them to build more phones like the 6100. That phone was a piece of crap and so is the 5300. And those phones don't look any better than the 8350. And just so you know phones have always been expensive. They used to be a few hundred dollars minimum. Get over it

ok i was just using the 5300 and the 6100 as EXAMPLES. There are other nice phones that are chunky. Like the env. You could drop it a few times here and there and it does not break. drop a razor once (I know from past experience) and it breaks.

I do like the env. But you need to realize that all phones are expensive. Just look at the retail prices and you can really get a better picture. But people have to know when they buy a razer it's not going to be as durable as a env. But they still buy them because of the size. Its not like verizon is trying to trick people.

i know but my point is any "good" phone is skinny and fragile (except for the env... but i dont want a full keyboard to haul around!) There is no phone that has a decent camera and mp3 and stuff like that... well chocolates but those damn things drive me crazy!

ok wtf. my point was that if i accidently drop my phone, which i do about once or twice a week, I dont want it to shatter into a billion pieces. Since I (unlike you and other pplz on this site) dont put my phone before everything else in life, I dont sweat it when i drop it... but now the way they are making all the other phones, i might be concered. When you drop your car keys do you question they will shatter? I am sure you drop them every now and then. How would you like it if everytime you dropped your keys they broke and you had to buy a new one? What if all keys were expensive glass? Then what would you think?

thats pretty sad that you drop your phone that much.. I have never dropped my 8700 but if I did.. I doubt it would just break into pieces ((unless i was like you & dropped it all the time)) cause at some point it will break.. But if anything a few bumps & bruises on a phone is pretty normal..
AND.... The new G'Zone isnt all that bad.. I agree the first was crazy.. but that phone is also geared more towards people that work in hazards that a typical phone would be dead in a day. (Sounds like you need one)

i do have a case, and i dont usually drop my phone that much, maybe once or twice here and there, but nvm I am careful and have only broken a razr from dropping it. I was just concerned about the rest of the world but you know wut its their dang problem not mine!

I have had 4 RAZRs. And have only broken one by dropping it (jcb 125' snorkel lift onto blacktop) but the phone itself still worked but both screens were busted. One I set my truck down off of a jack onto, and one was lost but all were dropped numerous times. You dropped yours once and it broke... I thought that I had bad phone karma.
