Verizon profits drop more than 30%

I don't see the article
...
Did you look under business?
...
Retail ARPU (average revenue per customer) was $51.70
$2 Billion in Data Revenue
Retail churn was 1.21%
Better than AT&T in most areas, but still can't get that elusive top spot back.
...
I just tried the search bar and looked for "Verizon Wireless." I'll try the business section.
...
So profits are down because of some spending that wasn't done before. I can't argue against that investment they made.
Interesting that MSNBC gives credit to the iPhone. Did they assume this or do they have the numbers as well?
...
VZW profits did not drop.

The biggest reason that AT&T still has more total customers than verizon is because of AT&Ts go phone not so much the I phone. But with verizons new Pre Pay plans coming out I really do think the gap will close quickly. Verizon always beats them with post pay but they just kill verizon on Pre Pay customers. Well see what happens next month.
...
the new prepay still sucks...
...
It beats most competitors prepay plans
...
actually the first tier matches at&t by not charging the dollar on days not used
I can't see the value in the other tiers
...
We beat suckular again, not much new there...800 thousand go phones to 1.6 mill! nice!
...
You just don't get it. Do ya? Gosh! It such a shame...
...
What don't i get? that cingular sucks, or that their churn is higher, or is it that gsm sucks?, or what about Go phones do not amount to loyal post paid customers?
Verizon has more post paid customers, while maintaining lower churn!
...
Have you actually seen the results? HINT: Churn actually went UP! (just like I predicted in the AT&T forum.
Here let me help you...
http://www.rcrnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/frontpage »"Verizon Wireless reported another strong quarter of results, although the company saw small increases in its consistently low churn rates.
The carrier added a total of 1.6 million net customers. However, Verizon Wireless lost about 115,000 customers from its wholesale business, which primarily involves resellers.
The numbers leave Verizon Wireless with 63.7 million total customers, 97% of whom are retail customers. The industry’s No. 1 carrier, AT&T Mobility, counts 65.7 million customer ..."

Wireless Continues to Lead Industry
Verizon Wireless extended its record of strong, industry-leading performance. It continues to be the largest domestic wireless company in total revenues, data revenues and retail customers.
In the third quarter:
Nearly all of the 1.8 million retail net customer additions (including acquisitions and adjustments) were post-paid customers.
Total customers (retail and wholesale) increased to 63.7 million. The company added 1.6 million total net customers after approximately 115,000 net reductions to the company's wholesale base.
Verizon Wireless continued its industry-leading customer loyalty, with 1.21 percent retail churn. Churn among retail post-paid customers at 0.96 percent was substantially lo...

...
I guess you can't argue with those numbers anymore, can you?
VZW will always have the best service and retention due to that service in these united states known as America!
...
Tracfone contributed 600K out of the 2 million AT&T's net adds. Do you get it now? 🤣
...
Where did you read that at?
...
Churn always go up a little in third quarter, i know you're struggling to make a point someway but i'm lost at what that is. verizon beat suckular again.
Verizon has more customers using their network under the Verizon brand than ATT does under the ATT brand. That says something very strong about consumer confidence in the brand itself.
...
Lies! Prove to me that churn always goes up in the third quarter. You won't be able to becuase it just doesn't.
Stop quoting somebody else's words. Those weak statements on your second paragraph have been said by somebody else. (or should I say by YOU under a different screen name?)
You know the truth. I gave/showed it to you. I end my case.
...
Verizon wins. Thats the fact Jack! 🤣
...
And you win umm nothing for that fact. You will always pay more for a service that has never proven to be worth the money that they want you to pay. Who gives a crap who is number one or not. What are you getting for it?
...
suckular overall churn 1.7 😳 🤣 🤣
...
The results were in line with my estimates.
...
1.8 million net retail customer additions, 1.6 million total net customer additions after reductions in wholesale customers, 61.8 million retail (non-wholesale) customers and 63.7 million total customers.
1.21 percent retail and 0.96 percent retail post-paid churn -- industry lows.
14.4 percent increase in total revenues -- largest U.S. wireless company based on total revenues; data revenues up 63.4 percent; highest-ever service and data ARPU; 44.7 percent EBITDA margin (non-GAAP).
So please note, VZW once again added more retail customers than AT&T. That means once again more customer have pick VZW for their carrier than picked AT&T
...
You mean more customers chose vw postpaid than at&t's right?
...
people choosing track phone are not people intentionally choosing at&t
...
I mean more people are buying service under the name VZW than people buying service under the name AT&T. Retail means direct sales, not sales through a wholesaler (aka MNVO). VZW net retail adds were 1.8mil, while net adds were only 1.6mil, this is because of the loss of customer from AMPD closing. AMPD customers were using VZW, but not under the name VZW so were not retail customers.
...
Signing up 1.8 million RETAIL customers compared to AT&T's 1.2 million retail customers (with iPhone) is Amazing and shows that Verizon is doing very, very well.

yup verizon is still number One!

Blah. Microsoft just bought a stake in Facebook and the two are starting to partner, so I give Facebook's 'coolness' about another year, tops. ☹️
And ATT was never cool, very few multibillion dollar corporations are.
...
all you people kill me I can see if it meant something that they are number one. But what. Their stock is not number one. Beat by both alltel and USCC. So what do you all get if they are number one? More people to congest an already taxed system!
...

Says who? what proof do you have that the verizon network is taxed?
...
why do you think they limit data use? Because they just don't want people to do anything other then reg browsing? When their competitor is offering you to do whatever you want. They don't have the spectrum to do it. Need more proof?
...
who says they don't have enough spectrum to offer unlimited data? who is saying that they cap data at 5 megs do to limited amount spectrum?
...
why do you think they do it? Their have been many discussions on here about the topic and I will not repeat everything on it. But it is true. 800 band is very crowded and unable to provide the speed as 1900. That is why 800 evdo is slower then 1900!
...
Oh so you don't really know you're just repeating what nextel18 says like a parrot! good to know! he also said for two years sprint will be leading the pack again, now even he knows he was wrong. learn true facts or shut up, stop being a parrot!
...
He's just trying to make a point that Quality of Service is more important to the customer than Net Adds.
...
Yes that was my point. But he also needs to learn and read more then phone scoop and maybe he will realize what I am saying about spectrum!!
...
AWS has what to do with this topic. You tell me why they cap it and sprint does not? They cap it for a good reason. Spectrum. Verizon has the least right now out of all of them. Until the AWS and if they win some. But they are not liking the auction because they require some to be open to all devices. And verizon does not like that. If verizon uncapped all data like sprint it will bring their data to a crawl. At least on the 800 side which is 51% of their network!
...

tmobile and att has more spectrum than verizon, is that what you're telling me now?
...
att has the most with the purchase of aloha spectum! Sprint second and tmobile if they get all what they won in the new auction 3rd.
...
I am not repeating it is common sense. They don't have the spectrum or they would offer true unlimited like others do!
You show me they have the spectrum to do it!
...
No! You're the one running off at the mouth, so you show me the proof that verizon doesn't have the spectrum to offer unlimited data! i don't know if they do or don't, i just want you to back up your statements!!!!
...
no I am discussing it as this is a forum.
...
I understand when you're hard pressed for facts, you simply do nothing more the regurgitate useless info!
...
I am not hard pressed for facts. I have done allot of reading on it. I don't care if you believe me or not.
But believe this. CDMA gets worse the more users you add. That is a fact. That is the biggest cause of dropped calls on CDMA
...
It's true. CDMA tower range decreases as you get more people on it. Of course, WCDMA will have the same problem! Hopefully the OFDM-based networks in 4G won't have this issue.
...
Dont waste your time arguing with wombough, he doesnt know what he is talking about most of the time and is often giving incorrect information to people when he thinks he knows what he is talking about.
