Retail ARPU (average revenue per customer) was $51.70

$2 Billion in Data Revenue

Retail churn was 1.21%

Better than AT&T in most areas, but still can't get that elusive top spot back.

So profits are down because of some spending that wasn't done before. I can't argue against that investment they made.

Interesting that MSNBC gives credit to the iPhone. Did they assume this or do they have the numbers as well?

The biggest reason that AT&T still has more total customers than verizon is because of AT&Ts go phone not so much the I phone. But with verizons new Pre Pay plans coming out I really do think the gap will close quickly. Verizon always beats them with post pay but they just kill verizon on Pre Pay customers. Well see what happens next month.

Have you actually seen the results? HINT: Churn actually went UP! (just like I predicted in the AT&T forum.
Here let me help you...

"Verizon Wireless reported another strong quarter of results, although the company saw small increases in its consistently low churn rates.

The carrier added a total of 1.6 million net customers. However, Verizon Wireless lost about 115,000 customers from its wholesale business, which primarily involves resellers.

The numbers leave Verizon Wireless with 63.7 million total customers, 97% of whom are retail customers. The industry’s No. 1 carrier, AT&T Mobility, counts 65.7 million customer ..."

Wireless Continues to Lead Industry

Verizon Wireless extended its record of strong, industry-leading performance. It continues to be the largest domestic wireless company in total revenues, data revenues and retail customers.

In the third quarter:

Nearly all of the 1.8 million retail net customer additions (including acquisitions and adjustments) were post-paid customers.
Total customers (retail and wholesale) increased to 63.7 million. The company added 1.6 million total net customers after approximately 115,000 net reductions to the company's wholesale base.
Verizon Wireless continued its industry-leading customer loyalty, with 1.21 percent retail churn. Churn among retail post-paid customers at 0.96 percent was substantially lo...

Churn always go up a little in third quarter, i know you're struggling to make a point someway but i'm lost at what that is. verizon beat suckular again.

Verizon has more customers using their network under the Verizon brand than ATT does under the ATT brand. That says something very strong about consumer confidence in the brand itself.

Lies! Prove to me that churn always goes up in the third quarter. You won't be able to becuase it just doesn't.

Stop quoting somebody else's words. Those weak statements on your second paragraph have been said by somebody else. (or should I say by YOU under a different screen name?)

1.8 million net retail customer additions, 1.6 million total net customer additions after reductions in wholesale customers, 61.8 million retail (non-wholesale) customers and 63.7 million total customers.
1.21 percent retail and 0.96 percent retail post-paid churn -- industry lows.
14.4 percent increase in total revenues -- largest U.S. wireless company based on total revenues; data revenues up 63.4 percent; highest-ever service and data ARPU; 44.7 percent EBITDA margin (non-GAAP).

So please note, VZW once again added more retail customers than AT&T. That means once again more customer have pick VZW for their carrier than picked AT&T

I mean more people are buying service under the name VZW than people buying service under the name AT&T. Retail means direct sales, not sales through a wholesaler (aka MNVO). VZW net retail adds were 1.8mil, while net adds were only 1.6mil, this is because of the loss of customer from AMPD closing. AMPD customers were using VZW, but not under the name VZW so were not retail customers.

And ATT was never cool, very few multibillion dollar corporations are.

why do you think they limit data use? Because they just don't want people to do anything other then reg browsing? When their competitor is offering you to do whatever you want. They don't have the spectrum to do it. Need more proof?

why do you think they do it? Their have been many discussions on here about the topic and I will not repeat everything on it. But it is true. 800 band is very crowded and unable to provide the speed as 1900. That is why 800 evdo is slower then 1900!

show me proof that's all i want, show me proof that verizon caps data because they fear they don't have enough spectrum to go around.

AWS has what to do with this topic. You tell me why they cap it and sprint does not? They cap it for a good reason. Spectrum. Verizon has the least right now out of all of them. Until the AWS and if they win some. But they are not liking the auction because they require some to be open to all devices. And verizon does not like that. If verizon uncapped all data like sprint it will bring their data to a crawl. At least on the 800 side which is 51% of their network!
