New MB Plan-can I opt out of contract?

Okay knowledgeable group, here is my question. To my understanding, since Verizon has made the modification to charging per MB of data, and thus changed the original practices/services when I signed my contract, in theory I should be able to cancel the remainder of my two year contract (11 more months) with no penalty, correct? Thanks in advance all, I learn so much from this forum.

they are not forcing you onto the new plans, so no you can't dog out on your contract!

Maybe this is where I am confused. My take is that everyone has been moved over to the new pricing plan for data, regardless of existing contract. If I am still getting charged the "old" way (via my existing contract), then cool.

sorry you won't be able to get out of it...

your contract states they can make any change on your account for any reason they want

Yes, you are still "getting it the old way", unless you change your rate plan, it will have no effect on you.

And if you do change to a new rate plan, you cant get out of your contract, because you will have knowlingly changed to the new plan.

Great! I just wanted to make sure that I was not being "grandfathered" into the new plan.

I think you got it mixed up!

Being grandfathered means you get to keep things the way they are even if it's different for everything else.

So yes, you are being Grandfathered and yes, it's a good thing! 🙂
