Verizon Unlikely to Bid Now for Sprint

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ - News) has no imminent plans to bid for Sprint Corp. (NYSE:FON - News), people familiar with the situation said on Tuesday, lifting a potential obstacle to Sprint's bid for Nextel Communications Inc. (NasdaqNM:NXTL - News).

Separately, Britain's Vodafone Group Plc (London:VOD.L - News) denied it was in talks with Verizon, its wireless joint venture partner, about any offer for Sprint.

The two developments contradicted a report in Tuesday's Wall Street Journal, which said Verizon had gained the backing of Vodafone to make a bid for Sprint in a move that...

becuase they said they wont bid, in order to bid they have to get permission from vodaphone, which they arent getting.

fcc,ftc, doj will squash the deal regardless.

You seem incredibly anxious for a Verizon-Sprint deal not to go through. May the fates be kind to you, as I don't wanna see you jumping off any cliffs if it does. 😳

For myself, I hope that Sprint-Nextel happens and that Verizon-Alltel happens.

yea verizon alltel seems interesting..

verizon sprint would never go through. like i mentioned vodaphone wont agree to sell their stake in vzw and the fcc/doj/ftc wont allow it to happen anyway.

Verizon Considering Bid for Sprint

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Vodafone has given Verizon Wireless the green-light to make a bid to buy Sprint. Vodafone owns 45% of Verizon Wireless. etc..


lol thats a big slap in the face of the "know-it-alls"...
cingular and at&t was never going to happen either..... learn to expect the unexpected!

no thats not true. vodaphone then said they have never gave permission or even talked to verizon about that. go read it and check it out for yourself.
