How quickly were you able to adapt to this on the Blackberry pearl? I want a smaller PDA than the brick moto q I carry around. That said, if I can't type well on the pearl I may go ahead and get the Q9m.
...
I don't own a Pearl, but I use it a lot, and I have never adapted. I hate SureType. Full QWERTY for the win!
...
since when is the Q considered "a brick"...its the thinnest smart pone available.
I used the pearl at the store the other day and it didnt seem to difficult to type. read the reviews on this website for more opinions. I was also go try it out for yourself. Cause ultimately, you have to decide whether or not it will work for you.

Surprisingly, a lot of people think the Q is a brick. My uncle has a Sprint Q and he's constantly complaining about the size. He was his Samsung i600 back.
Speaking of which, has anybody activated a Verizon phone on Sprint yet? I think he would be very interested in the PN-820 if he could activate it on his Sprint account.
...
I had one for 2 years with T-Moile (7100T) and then an additional 2 years with Verizon on the 71303.
It takes appeoximately 2 weeks to get used to suretype. Just ignore the suggestions it comes up with as you type and continue to type straight through. Before you send it you can review any errors it may have made.
I does "learn" words that you type and eventually it will suggest less and less alternate words. After that you'll become pretty speedy with it.
I now have an 8830 World Phone and because the keys are so close together, it is hard to type fast even though it is a full QWERTY keyboard.
The Curve has the best keyboard in my opinion.
...
It took me about two days to be comfortable with suretype. As was already mentioned its best to ignore the suggestions and just continue to type.
I think the Pearl is a far better choice than the Q which I had owned at one point.
...
I would say a week at most. And if you used iTAP or T9 on a previous phone probably closer to what mobile_dfw said, 2 days. AutoText is also an awesome feature on the device.
...
I just got the Pearl two days ago. I've spent about an hour or two playing around with the suretype and I can type as fast on it as I can on my EN-V with querty keyboard.
...
It took me two days to get used to it and a week to get fast at it. I LOVE my pearl BTW!!
...
I think I'm going to give it a go. The Moto Q feels like holding a typewriter to my face compared to some other phones.
Maybe I'm exaggerating, but I like the fact that Blackberrys are reliable devices. I've heard great things about the email service as well.
...
with the new price of $30 for unlm data and BB service...blackberry is the way to go on verizon. Why pay $45 for a buggy, unreliable treo or moto Q when you can have a stable unit like the blackbery for $15 per month less! And you get push email.
...
You don't like your Treo anymore, Chris?
...
Funny you should ask...I snagged a great deal on a BB 8703e for $55 dollars. And its in great shape!
I think Im gonna hook it up and give BB a go. I still like my treo, but over the past 6 months the honeymoon has been fading, and the only feature I really love is threaded texting. Which BB's offer.
Also, I currently pay $25 for 10MB of data with my treo. Its a much better deal to pay an additional $5 per month and get push email and unlm evdo internet.
Now that data prices are lower for BB, I think thats a better overall choice for smartphones.

That's true, the pricing is better. But I really don't like the BlackBerry OS, and the web browsing isn't nearly as good as Internet Explorer or even Palm Blazer.
But good luck either way.
...
i have an att blackberry and I actually like the browser much better than blazer (just my opinion tho)
I guess Im just looking for the best deal with the most stable device. I thought about the voyager, But i really think i want a more robust interface...and besides the touchscreen, im not convinced the voyager does this.
We'll give it a shot, and hopefully in Feb or March I can use my NE2 for the BB curve!
...
I like the BB better had a treo, The Q and the 6700 to many bugs for me. The price you can't beat I still am on the 10mb plan have not switched since I have not gone over so why pay the extra 5.00. Once i go over I will switch. Love it though. I have the 8830 and would like to get the pearl but will need to sell the 8830 1st it is brand new.
