You should be able to do it most anywhere. I work for an indirect location and am able to keep older plans/phone numbers. I would say either go into a CORPORTATE store first if possible, if not go into an actual store that deals with ONLY verizon. With that said I would not recommend not going into best buy/costco/wal-mart.
Hope that helps.

LOL, the ultimate VZW hater (along with Beach) now wants some help from those he's trolled?
Go pound sand, lol. 😁
...
Shouldn't be an issue. The upgrade policy was changed to allow any plan to be upgraded.
...
Many indirect agents don't get commission on plans lower than $34.99 and will tell you they are unable to upgrade with out bumping you up to a current plan.
Tele-sales would be my recommendation for upgrading on a plan like that.
...
They need to read up on the m&p's then.
...
Yeah, I agree, we get paid on each and every plan, even the 9.99, I think the person that posted the response wasnt quite up to date on things.
...
Yes we do get paid on upgrading the $9.99 lines but any other plan lower then $34.99 we do not get paid on. So the save plans we cannot upgrade because we do not get paid on them.
...
Wrong. We have a little book called a customer loyalty guide send by Verizon. On the pages with the save/loyalty plans it says at the bottom: "Indirect: Effective July 1,2007, plans are commissionable at reduced rate." I believe that rate is similar to the $9.99 share lines. Before July 1st, we wouldn't get paid on anything under $34.99 unless it was a $9.99 share.
...
This was a hot topic at our agent fair a month ago and stright from Verizon corporate (not the stores the "Big Wigs") we DO NOT get paid on those plans.
...
Well I dunno what to say then. I just looked at my October Commission Statement and I have an upgrade on a $25 loyalty plan that was paid. It was actually more than a $9.99 share lines gets paid.
...
Maybe we are just getting incorrect information, not like it would be the first time.
...
Please just call telesales and do the upgrade. No sales person direct or indirect gets paid on such a low plan. But you should look at the 65+ plan. Its $5 more than what you are paying but you gain unlimited IN.
...
This is not true anymore. We get paid on all the loyalty plans as an indirect and also the grandfathered plan.
...
Wow, you are mis informed, we (indirects) get paid on each and every upgrade, even as low as $9.99 plans.
I have personally done upgrades on plans as low as $10 a month single line plans, and got paid full comission from Verizon.
...
Your payout depends on your agreement with VZW and your negotiated commissions. So there are some indirects that do not get paid out on such small plans.
...
I cant imagine this, when I stared selling Verizon about 5 years ago, we didnt have 9.99 plans, when the secondary 9.99 plans came out, VZW sent me a letter, saying how much we would get paid 9about the same as a $39.99 plan).
...
I aree. There is no negotiating. They tell you what you will get and you agree to it, no choice. Now different areas of the country do get paid on different commissions scales but I think even those are getting leveled out like everything else.
...
Per policy when the new plans came out on 11/1/07 all exsisting customers upgrading must change to one of the new Nationwide plans. There are exceptions for family share plans and "loyalty plans".
Her best bet is to call into customer service and ask what current loyalty plans are.
Any employee that upgrades her phone and keeps her on the current plan will be voilating policy and thus be putting their job at risk, and for indirects will be putting their store's contract with VZW at risk.
...
That isn't true. You can still upgrade and keep your old plan. The only phone that forces you to upgrade your plan as well is the Voyager.
...
As long as you aren't upgrading to the voyager, you do not have to change your calling plan. As a matter of fact, if a customer on the America's Choice family share wants to add a line, they can do so under the America's Choice plan still. All customers on the older calling plans are still grandfathered in.
...
Actually, this will depend on the market. In most areas, when upgrading, you do need to go to the nationwide plan (not just for the Voyager) unless you are part of a family share. One area is exempt. Please check with your local store or customer service to find out the rules in your area as opposed to taking advice from an anonymous online site.
...
What area? Where I am we do not have to migrate plans and when I was at the agent fair a month ago they said we DO NOT have to migrate to the Nationwide plans. What area do you say does not have to migrate? I think it is odd that only one area would not have to while everyone else does.
...
I'm in the Midwest Area and we don't have to either.
...
That explains it I'm in the midwest. So if I upgrade someone with a Cali number since the upgrade is being sone in the midwest do they not have to migrate or will they since they have a Cali number?
...
Yeah, very weird situation. I really have a hard time believing that only 1 area doesn't have this restriction. It doesn't sound right at all.
...
You are so wrong. You only have to change if changing minutes or going to the Voyager.
...
Read the M&P. Unless it is a midwest specific policy (which I thought area policies were going away) it says consumer accounts doing phone upgrades after Nov 1 must migrate to nationwide plans. This has been something we have been sent many emails on.
...
I'm actually eligible to upgrade. I was looking at the phones on Verizon's webpage, and there was a disclaimer over the Voyager saying that it required changing my plan to the Nationwide plans (I would give you the exact message, but Verizon's webpage is giving me an error right now). It did not give me that message for any other phone. If you can upgrade on Verizon's website without changing your price plan, I don't know how you could see this as a company-wide policy that changed on Nov 1. People with ACII plans or older are grandfathered in.
...
Robtheman was correct earlier-- Family Share plans are exempt from the mandatory migration. I renewed 3 lines today and added another line while keeping them on their original plan. The training said that the customer has a choice of staying on their existing family share plan or migrating to the Nationwide plan when adding a line. They all have to stay on the AC II or move to nationwide, you can't have 2 lines here and 2 lines there.
NetAce wouldn't allow you to do that if you weren't supposed to (for those of you who know how strict NetAce & SED is...)
...
This is the very first thing in the Midwest Area M&P.
The requirement to move to current pricing was removed. Customer should be encouraged to move to current pricing, but it is not required.
...
Yeah I read the M&P today. The stuff my supervisor was emailing out was pre-Nov 1 documents and in the midwest it was going to force calling plan changes, looks like that idea got cut when the nationwide plans came out... and I dont even see that old clause in there about needing to migrate when on calling plans less than 49.99, was that removed as well?
...
I didn't read it word for word, but probably so since it doesn't apply now.
...
are you being serious? you obviously don't work for vzw. if you knew anything, you would know that the only time you have to change your plan to upgrade is with the new voyager. I agree, she can simply call into care and they will be happy to upgrade her phone and not change her plan. Please, for future reference, unless you know correct info, keep your mouth shut. You just make my job harder when people call.
...
I dont know how long you have worked for VZW, or if you work in the midwest. The midwest for a long time has required grandfathered plans below 49.99 to migrate to current pricing, but it seems that has been removed from the M&P without any notification to us.
I was also being sent copies of documentation made before the Nationwide plans were released and the midwest was going to force all customers to change to the nationwide plans with upgrades, but that clause was changed to "strongly suggest to the customer" to change plans, but they can keep the current one if they want.
...
as the topic says, there was a policy change that wasnt announced to my department and we no longer require grandfathered plans to change to current plans on upgrades.
