Verizon to Open Access to Apps and Devices Next Year

I believe they are using something similar to what ZUNE is doing or maybe using ZUNE. Check out http://www.zune.com
Make that www.vanu.com
I dont really care about other phones rather than the possibility of applications. Maybe the possibility of a SDK for handsets to write 3rd party apps? This can only be a good thing.
Hopefully next year we can just but a phone from them online and activate it with all of the original features.
1 bring a vzw certified device, get a ontract vzw still making loot
2 what ever is loaded on the phone stays on there,
3 what ever you want as an extra as far as apps is up to you to get and pay for 😈 of course you know some will not.
4 the down side vzw techs will probably only service vzw branded phones.
5 lose the phone no insurance, good luck getting a new one or sign another contract with a vzw branded phone.
6 all retail prices on phones drops and all services get costly. 👀
7 your contract looks like 5 + yrs for a cheaper rate.. 😳

Verizon opens up, will support any device, any app on its network
By Nate Anderson | Published: November 27, 2007 - 10:54AM CT
"If you can't beat 'em, join 'em," appears to be Verizon Wireless' new motto as it today announced an impressive "open access" plan for its network that will go into effect next year. Any application can run on any device from any developer and will have full access to Verizon spectrum, so long as it can properly connect to the network. Google, can you hear us now?
