I went to 4 corp stores today to check out the 6800 in person. I know it does not officially come out until tomorrow, but I thought I would try. At the first store I spoke with 3 reps and they claim the have never heard of the phone and there were no new pda phones coming out. The second store said it will be out by New Year. The third store said it will be out in two weeks. The fourth store had a working display phone and let me play with it. I am sure the other stores had it??? Are some corp stores better than others or were they just playing dumb? ****Also I ordered the 6800 online and I would like to add 3rd party apps...what are some good sights to download from (pay or free) and what are some apps that are must have!!!!*******th...

Are you 110% positive the other stores were corporate stores??? There are some stores that will say verizon all over and not even say authorized agent or independent retailer... In that case I work at an indirect agent and we tend to get new phones a week or so after the actual launch date.

handango.com is the one that most ppl prefer.
It has free apps, trial apps and you can also buy apps.

"and what are some apps that are must have"
what are you using it for?

Dude, you seriously have a problem?

Well for one thing you're NOT supposed to be able to get your hands on a phone until it's actually released. There's a reason for launch dates. If something isn't out yet, then of course you're going to have trouble getting your hands on it. I'm not sure what your complaint is, it doesn't make much sense.

Wait till the release date then you'll really be able to get your hands on it for sure.

I mean, don't you get the concept? It's not out, so it's not supposed to be seen. That's where the problem is. It's not an issue over whether or not one store is better than the other. In truth, the best stores are the ones that protected proprietary information and didn't show you the phone before launch.

First, I am 100% positive that they were corp stores. Second, I meant by "must have" any apps that would make a nice functional addition to the phone. And lastly, I may have a problem, but the corp stores that do not know when the release date is, say they have never heard of the phone and when the branch manager of one of the stores says that phone will not be out until Feb of 08......I think Verizon has the bigger problem? And the gentleman that showed me the working demo phoen told me he could not sell me one until tomorrow.

The launch date for retail is 12/5/07. However I would bet most reps wouldn't give you the time of day if they knew you were buying online anyway...

So what if they "don't know when the release date is". THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO RELEASE INFO until they are allowed to. That's my whole point. If they give you disinformation such as claiming to not know when the launch date is, then they're protecting their jobs.

Like I said, you'll have a lot more support on/after the launch date. They can't help you before then. There is no problem with Verizon's end, it's just somebody insisting that there is.

Their jobs depend on their ability to properly protect company assets. Wait a day please.
