anyone connecting w/QNC and a 1xRTT phones?

what kind of speed are you getting? near ISDN, 125Kb?

Quick 2 net connects at speeds of 14.4kb/s and 1xRTT connects at 144 kb/s; those are average connection speeds. Where do u live, u might have broadband in ur area?

then 1xRTT is a differnet method of connecting?
I have wbb in the area, but if 1xRTT phone will work and is cheaper, for as often as I might need it, mostly for travel, I'd go 1xRTT.

1xrtt requires a data feature added to your calling plan. If the feature isn't on your plan then you'll be charged per minute used and use up your allowance.
Quick to Net is free, it just uses up your minutes.

If you are planning to use quick to net because its cheaper make sure a customer service rep deletes the national access feature off because the default connection is to the 1xrtt network (national access). Therefore, if you don't have a data feature and you connect to the 1xrtt you will be billed; it is better to be safe than sorry, that's why you should delete the national access feature.

If you do delete the national access feature just keep in mind that picture messaging wont work.

so when I change to a newer phone that does 1xRTT I need to add data and lose national access.
at that point, are the RTT "calls" just minutes on the plan, or are they additional?
Don't care about picture messaging.

Voice and data are two seperate aspects. Removing the national access feature only affects the data aspect.

If your planing on using quick to net, just remove the national access feature. All the minutes you spend online will be deducted from your calling plan allowance and if you have unlmtd nights and weekends then of course no minutes will be used.

If you decide to add data you will actually be adding it as an additional feature to your voice calling plan. This enables you to use both aspects of the network. You can change your calling plan to a data calling plan but you would not be able to use that line for voice. With a data plan, you don't use up minutes of or get charged anything extra (as long as you of course stay with in you...
