Getting pics off u900

I bought a u900 "Flipshot" a week or so ago. I love the phone. I tried to send a picture to my computer via picture message to my email address. I've always had success doing that in the past, but when I did it this time, the picture looked awful. It looked worse on my computer than it did on the phone (there are details you can see in the phone that don't appear on the computer file). I called in to CS, and they told me that the phone compresses the file before it's sent out. Makes sense to me because of the file size. I bought a music kit for the phone to get the USB cable, but I don't know where to go from here. Anybody know any software I can use to get pictures from my phone to the computer via USB? I should be able to transfer...

probably your best bet would be to get a memory card and a USB Card reader (1Gig Memory card from VZW is 29.99, USB Card reader from vzw is 19.9๐Ÿ˜Ž. you can save pictures in full resolution to the card and then put it in the card reader. open up windows explorer and select the usb storage device. drag and drop your pics to your desktop and your good.

If you dont need the music kit you can return it to the store you got it at for a refund within 30 days.

I'm aware of that method. I'm not getting a memory card for my phone for a while. I want to make sure this thing will do what I want it to do before my 30 day exchange is up so I don't want to drop a bunch of money on it at the moment. Any other ideas?

pix message to email usually works but you said it didnt. you could try sending it to pixplace (go to the pic, select options and to pix place, then go to vzwpix.com sign in and see it) that may work..

or you could get a usb bluetooth deal and try using that. IMO Card/Reader is your best bet!

You know what...sending it to email actually did work. I just double checked the file size on my phone and it's the same as it is on the computer. Wow, this picture looks like crap.

Yeah, there's no way to do it via USB. Your only option is via Pix message or memory card.

Seriously, what do I need to do to get a different u900 shipped out? I'm thinking that it's probably the lens in this particular phone that's bad. Every time I call it, they suggest that I buy more crap for the phone. Or that the camera resolution isn't at the highest setting. They say I need to call back from a different phone because they can't troubleshoot the phone if I'm on it. You know what? I work for the f*cking company. I think I know how to troubleshoot something like this. Can you just send me a replacement??

take it to the store so a tech can look at it?

Even if there was something wrong with it, the tech can't replace it. It's online only. And I'm not going to drive over an hour to get to a corporate store to get them to tell me there's something wrong with the phone when I'm fairly certain there already is. If there's not, then the u900 camera gives you high resolution with a crappy picture.

it probably is just the compression from sending it via picture message. the env shows a little bit different when i email vs. when i use my memory card reader. i'd take midnight's advise and get the memory card. it will come in handy for more than just that one phone.

The file size on my computer is the same as the file size on the phone. If it was going through some sort of compression, the file size on the computer would be smaller.

I can understand your frustration. With that said, I work in customer care and you have to realize that we have to follow procedure whether you are an employee or not. Customers can be charged if we send out frus and return their old phones and the distribution center determines water damage or physical damage. Since we can't see the phone we have to have the customers check the indicators on the phone etc. Also, we get calls all day long where customers tell us to fix their phones while their on them. Try going to a mechanic and ask him to fix your brakes while your driving the car.

I do understand your frustration but we still have to follow procedures. Sorry

It wasn't a FRU exchange. It was a new phone exchange. It was less than 30 days after the original purchase. It wasn't a damage issue either. It was a matter of them thinking I'm too stupid to figure out how to put the camera on the highest resolution.

I got a new phone shipped out, and I got a memory card/card reader to try that method. The pictures still look the same. I guess the camera quality on this thing is just a piece of crap. Anyone have recommendations for a cell phone camera that takes really good pictures? Preferably one that will use the 4GB card I just bought...

I've been tossing that around. I just don't like the outer screen on the enV. Not sure what else I like though. The UI in the Venus seems pretty slow. The Voyager isn't appealing. The Chocolate isn't appealing. I wouldn't mind waiting to see what the Samsung u940 is like, but my girlfriend took my old phone. ๐Ÿ˜•

How about one of the newer razrs then? Maybe the MOTV9M will do it for you? Razr Maxx? I know that sounds bad, but the Razr 2 (motv9m) IS pretty nifty... ๐Ÿคจ

I might actually just cancel the upgrade and wait for the Samsung u940. It can't be that far away.

Sort of a continuation of the iPhone/Voyager concept. I like the slider keyboard better than the flip like the Voyager. The touch pad on the Voyager kind of sucks too. We'll see if the u940 is any better. If not that...we'll see what else is on the horizon once this one comes out.

Oh ok I've seen that before. Personally, I like the touch screen and I feel it's pretty legit, but to each their own I guess. I really like that it's bulit around pressure sensitivity instead of heat, which is a huge plus.

I'm personaly not a huge fan of a slide out keyboard, I don't see much of a point to it.

I think these phones are only the tip of the iceberg. With the new UI and WM6 out now, phones are going to change more and more drastically over the next year.

Good luck with your hunt!

Slider vs flip-open is really personal preference. I've just never been a big fan of the flip-up keyboard like the V or the enV or the Voyager. We'll see what happens.
