Emergency wind up chargers

Just popping in. I just got home after helping the flood victims here in Washington, jumped online to get caught up and stumbled across an article about how many households are ditching their land lines for cell only. I read an interesting response about emergency wind up cell phone chargers, which I did not know existed. Just found it interesting thought I'd share. When there is absolutely no power source this could be a life saver. Anyone use one of these?

I know it the people I've been dealing with last week could have used it, flooded houses and cars and blocked access getting out of town. I am going to order one, gotta try it out.

That would be a great thing to have in an emergency but I wonder if used on a regular basis it would damage your battery like all of the instant charge stuff out there.
