I am currently using a blackberry 8830 with verizon and I only get about 50% of my emails and the ones I do get are usually delayed by about 15 min.

I live in a very low signal area inside of a city that does have evdo coverage (i live in a bermuda triangle of cell reception that smans about 1/2 mile).

My phone is swithing off between 1X and EVDO...usually somewhere between 0-2 bars of service on either band.

Is there anyway to get better email performance? or am I just S.O.L???

thanks, Chris

Yeah, I got a great deal on a BB 8703e and I really liked it, so I bought an 8830 off of ebay and now Im using that.

The problem is that I live in a poor coverage area within a city that does have evdo. But all of my emails are extremely delayed because the 8830 cannot latch onto a constant signal. I have been dealing with this poor coverage for two years and now I am seriously considering switching carriers over to att even after I have bashed them for quite a while, lol

I had a trouble ticket issued and they are going to check my area and see if I can get out of my contract for free. If so, I might try att and see how I like it over at the big orange machine

That ****ty that verizon isn't working well at your home, but you've been dealing with that for some time now I think. I take it your att business bb works well at home? gotta have solid service at home ☹️

yeah when I bought my condo two years ago, I failed to check on the cell reception--never thought I would have to deal with it, live and learn i guess.

Yeah, my work blackberry functions flawlessy...I rarely make calls on it, but the emails are delivered extremely fast--no issues there

I cant speak to texts, because they blocked 'em on our phones.

I dont wanna switch, but its just getting really frustrating to not be able to use your phone at home.

Plus then I can finally get the curve! I checked it out tonight at the att store. Its a lot smaller than i thought, but still pretty cool.

From everything I’ve read and heard it seems the Curve has exceptional call clarity, so you might not be nearly as disappointed as you might think. Plus your fam has it too, so that’s a bonus. I know you don’t want to go, but damn what is the point of a BB if you got to drive down the road to get your mail. Keep us posted man. I like the maroon color Curve.

Yeah i've heard good things about the call clarity and overall usability of the phone. Att is solid in my area so I probably wouldn't notice a huge drop off in service.

I went to the store last night and I didnt see the red curve, but I did see the titanium one and it was pretty slick!

If i switch it wont be for a month or so, but I will def keep you guys in formed.

see, this is why the whole at&t vs verizon thing is such a waste of time... at&t doesn't work that well at all at my house but verizon is near perfect... you don't want to commit to at&t and i don't want to commit to verizon :-)

Wow, I'm really surprised to hear your 8830 is doing delaying your pull, email. EvDO or 1xRTT shouldn't make a difference. I'd recommend getting in touch with RIM to trouble shoot your device.

Hey Chris,
Just me try calling back to tech support there has to be something not provisioned correctly on your phone. As you know I have several and you know were I live. I had troubles with the 1xevdo on my 8703e then I switched to the 8830 had to exchange one to get a brand new one then I had no problems but tech support said there has to be something wrong with the provisoning of the phone. He told me there would not be that many bb that are bad out there. AS you also know I have the 8130 and have had no problem great signal get my calls and emails all the time. I can't understand why ATT would be any different accept the GSm part?

I used to live by you on Troy behind culvers and had no problems with siganl there?

Send me an emai...

Yeah the phone functions fine when I am in evdo coverage...the issue is that where I live there isnt a very strong signal for evdo and the BB can't communicate with the server very well.

The only reason I might try att is because I know it works at my house. Only att and US cellular work at this place.

I dont wanna switch, but sometimes you just got do what you gotta do.

Call this # Chris 18774223779. Blackberry Tech support line. I wouldn't depend on VZW's techs (no offense VZV techs.) Have Blackberry assit you with the issue. 😉

the problem is that it's a network issue...the phone is functioning fine. But I might try the number and see if they have any ideas
