30 Days to Swap

jvon

So i recently purchased the U-740, when i say recent more like 3.5 months ago. I know that when you buy the phone you have 30 days to swap it out if you dont like it.

I ordered my phone and before i was able to receive it i had to deploy.

I had the phone sent to me so can play with it and try to get used to the phone. from what i can tell i dont know if i will be happy with the phone.

I still have not activated the phone, now does the 30 days start when i buy the phone or when i call to activate it.

If im stuck with the phone i will learn to live with it, at the same time it would be nice to swap it for one of the new phones verizon has out now.

any help will be nice, thank you all in advance

I'm almost positive the 30 days starts when you receive the phone, not when it is activated, so you are out of luck if you want to swap it out.

Your best bet is to Ebay it if you decided you wanted a new phone.

You have 30 days to activate a phone from when you receive it. From there, you have 30 days to return it- So, in reality, you could have a full 60 days 😉

i'm not real positive about the specifics of the return policy with regard to telesales but i do know that the warranty date code isn't set in verizon's system until the day of initial activation so you MIGHT be able to return it based on that...on another note, verizon is very good about military related issues, as long as you can present proof that you were deployed at the time i'm sure they will let you return it, i'm an indirect rep and they'll almost bend over backwards to help you guys out and for that i say bravo, verizon!

I know Verizon helps out alot with being deployed and everything else that military comes with.

My current bill is only $10 (all i pay is for the extra family line) and she gets all the min, text and all that jazz.

I know when i log in it still says that i can upgrade my phone and has the old phone listed.

I guess when i get home i will have just have to call and see what they can do for me. worst comes to worse i will keep the phone and live with what i have.

everyone thanks for the fast reply, i will keep you posted

Wow, a customer actually sucking it up and being rational about things, you obviously have a good head on your shoulders.

Too bad your getting deployed overseas, we could use a few more like you in this country.

what else can i do, say verizon sucks and tell everyone that i want to switch companys once i get back.

they have helped me out many more times then once, i cant complain about verizon.

That and if i was really worried about the phone once i found out i was leaving i would have had the phone returned and waited till i came home.

As for being overseas i would not have it any other way. yes it sucks being away from home during the holidays but knowing what i do will make a difference in this world is worth being away.

and the last coment there is lots of people in this country like me, i think most of them are currently in the US military.

You had 30 days to activate it thru the IVR and accept your contract if it was mailed to you.

Since you never called the IVR to accept your contract term and activate the esn, you are going to get a chargeback on your billing for the full retail cost of the phone. You will have to call customer service to now activate it if needed, and once you do, the chargeback would be credited back to you by the customer service rep.

The return policy is 30 days, one exchanged allowed.

I'm in cus care and i know you have been given some conflicting info. It is absolutely 100% 30days from when you received the phone. Not when you ordered it or activated. I hope this helps!

that sucks how that worked. call customer service no guarantees but they can verify if your phone was used and when the phone was activated if this can be done or not. also don't be rude when calling in the nicer you are the better chance you have.
