Another Thing On the New Data Pricing...

SystemShock

Here's something that concerns me about the new 'per MB' pricing plans:

Apparently the plans ROUND UP to the next MB. So if you use, say, only 1KB of data, you get charged the $1.99.

So, say I ACCIDENTALLY hit the hot key or whatever to lauch mobile web/the browser. If even 1 byte of data gets transferred, I get hit with the $1.99 charge, do I not?

If so, that doesn't seem too cool. ☚ī¸

you can block mobile web if you are not going to use it, you can also change your hot keys so that mobile web doesnt have one.

I'm pretty sure this was one of the main reasons many people fuzzed about this, months ago. I'm very suprised that you just thought about it, today....

I don't recall it coming up that much back then, ppl seemed much more worried about whether or not the per MB charge was reasonable. They all seemed to calm down once it was pointed out that VZW's per MB charge was a lot less than ATT's and Sprint's.

I'm very surprised you didn't bring this up more, you seem to love to point out anything that is less than perfect in Verizonland. 😲

anxio,

Yeah I kinda sucks if you just logged on for a second and got charged $2. But this is the way the trend is going. People forget that companies are in this to make money and if you don't like what verizon does, go to another carrier.

I don't think its denial, its just a realization that we are entering a new era of phone usage. People are using more and more data and you have to adjust how you charge for those services. I don't really have a problem with this..because vzw still has the cheapest per MB charge inthe industry

the idea is not to charge people 1.99/mb for 1kb of accidental usage the idea is to set a pay as you go rate which is built in and reasonable so that people use the data more, revenue increases, and billing is consistent.

CS is auth to provide a one time 1.99 credit (so I heard, I dont know for a fact ofcourse) and place a block on data if needed.

Anxio, don't be dumb. I wouldn't have brought it up if I thought it was 'okay'. Duh. 😕
