Rumor about Verizon buying Embarq?

I was just curious to know if anyone else had been hearing this rumor flying around. Just little history, Embarq got a "legal Divorce" from sprint last June. Embarq is a stand alone company now except for their wireless using Sprint's network. To my knowledge the deal on sprints network is only good for one year and Embarq doesn't have the money or means to start their own. If this merger or buy out did happen Verizon would pick up the Midwest as far as home phone and DSL service, as well as a distribution center right out of Kansas City. The services that they both offer are very close. And Embarq desperately needs a step parent with some common since to step in and show them the way; they need to get rid of all the old sprint employees who...

A buy out is possible by Verizon but only if there is truly a strategic advantage. If I am correct most of Embarq's footprint is in the southeast and midwest. If the price is right, sure. It could finally be the answer to the AT&T mergers and buyouts in the landline world. 🤨
