I was in a VZW corporate store yesterday and noticed that the software on the RAZR V3M has been changed. The functionality is now just like the software in the W385 and the KRZR K1M. The ring styles can no longer be changed with the phone closed by using the smartkeys on the left side of the phone. Why is Verizon removing this Motorola trademark of being able to change the ring style without opening the phone??? The US Cellular versions of all of these phones still operate normally, with the ability to change the ring style with the phone closed, and also the true Motorola software that allows you to have a different ringtone and volume setting for each of the ring styles. In my opinion, Verizon is VERY WRONG in doing this.

I think its a great thing, you must not work in a store, because we have people ALL DAY LONG coming in complaining about how their razr is "going silent" while in their pocket or changing to vibrate automatically.

wfine,
What is your opinion of the W385?
I am considering replacing an E815 with it.
Thanks.
...
From what I have seen its a really good phone, havent had a single one come back in with any problems.
Feature wise its a step down from the 815.
...
Thanks for the info, I just need a basic phone, and am tired of the size and weight of the E815.
...
Then the 385 is a great choice, also check out the 410 samsung
...
Which one would you go with for a basic phone, U410 or the W385?
Thanks for your help.
...
Thats a hard one, the 385 is a very well built phone, but the 410 is absolutly beautiful.
Either way you go you'll be happy.

just thought I would chime in. I work in a Cor store and every single w385 that we have sold has been returned because of battery problems. They can not stay charged. my display phone would have to be charged everyday before the store closed. We get full signal where I am at since there is a tower less than a block away with nothing blocking the signal, just an empty field. Changed the battery and the phone. I agree the phone is built well but if you get it get the extended battery so you do not have to charge it everyday and need to replace the battery every 6 months.
The samsung 410 has been a great basic phone. have not had a single one returned for any issues. good reception and battery. If i had to choose I would take the 410 e...

Dont know whats wrong with the phones you have, but we havent had a single one come back.

It is not just the ones I have sold. I usually get a few people a week having the same problems. Swapping out batteries left and right via the battery warranty. We also have some battery problems with the KRZR too but not on the same scale as the w385. It has gotten so bad we took the phone off display and only show it to customers if they ask for and then only under duress.
Maybe it is just my area. I am in the south. North of Georgia south of virginia. Dont want to give too much info incase big brother is watching.
...
Yeah, i hear you about "big brother", trust me, they are here.
I am also in the SE market, (florida).
I dont know what to say about the phone then, I have been seeing a TON of 325's coming in with battery problems, at about a year old.

OK, remember the Samsung a530? I had this phone and it came with two batteries and a wall charger for the extra battery. Why can't all phones come like that. It was great. as soon as the battery was low I would just switch out batteries, always had a charged one. I didn't even need a car charger. If I was headed out the door and noticed my battery was a little low, I would throw the fully charged one in my pocket.
Sorry kind of off the subject, but related to battery life of phones.
