A question regarding porting numbers vs canceling

If you had a brand new customer within their 30 day trial period port their number to another carrier, would they be subject to an early termination fee, or would it be treated the same as if the account was just terminated?

Would be the same as account was terminated within 30 days, you would not be charged early termination fee

the early termination fee is based on the equiment being returned. any brand new customer can cancel or port out with in 30 days and will be billed the etf until there are notes on the account that the equipment is returned, excluding indirect stores

Well, sometimes, not a lot, but its not uncommon, for a customer to cancle within the 30 days and not return the phone to us, especially if they got a "free" phone, therefor they dont think they have to return it, then its up to us to try to get it back by contacting the customer a month later after we receive notification of the canclation

Yeah, we do, what we do is keep the customers credit card on file and have them sign a contract with our store.

However whenever we actually have to run the customers credit card to collect, all they have to do is call Visa/Mastercard and dispute it and they charge us back, its almost impossible to collect those ETFs.

All we can really do is send those customers to collections and write it off at the end of the year.

Well porting your # out before the 30day WFG is actually considered a 'Test Drive' with VZW. So if you port out within 30 days, VZW will pay for your calls you made and the activation fee and ETF will be credited back. .. and yeah, make sure you return the equipment or else you'll be hit with the bill on that. Good Luck!
