44.99 Unlimited Data plan...going down in price??

Mysterio693

Well...i got a Q but was misinformed and now it's too late to return it. I was told that as long as I don't access the web browser I will NOT get charged KB usage. Well they were wrong. Everything I send or receive a pix/flix message I get charged KB usage and only one week into it I was already exceeding $100 in KB usage. And thats even WITH the Unlimited TXT/FLIX/PIX package.

So I was pretty much forced to get the 44.99 data plan because I'm not willing to give up PIX/FLIX messages. And I dont even use the internet at all. Never.

So...is there any chance that Verizon will lower the price of the 44.99 unlimited data plan? Come on Verizon...Sprint offers the same plan for $15/month which includes unlimited internet & e-mail, pic mail...

yeah...

I just looked it up. it hasn't charged since december 2006 on PDA's. So if you quit five months ago, that leaves seven months that you worked here and gave out incorrect information...

Thank you for nolonger being employeed here. Our lack of youmakes this a better place to work.

Sorry droneboy but you're wrong, either that or none of the sales reps got the memo. I called and spoke to a sales rep today who said that if you have a smartphone and aren't on the 99.99 voice/unlimited data plan or the 44.99 unlimited data plan then every pix/flix message is billed per kilobyte. She also said that for people with smartphones and no data plan the best way for them to not incur per kb charges is to have customer service block data access.

copied from the latest version of the picture messaging M&P:

As of December 15, 2006, MMS (Picture and Video Messaging) no longer incur transport charges on advanced devices that are kilobyte-based (such as PDA/Smartphones) within the Verizon Wireless National Enhanced Services Rate and Coverage Area.

Sorry, but I am right.

My apologies.

Is there any way that I, as a customer (and VZ enterprise employee) can get access to that M&P? If not, how can I prove to the rep. that I shouldn't be billed per kb?

It's a shame that that has been in effect for over a year and some reps. still give erroneous information.

I looked around on the Verizon Wireless website and everything you said is actually on there. I had to hunt around to find it but once you log in to My Account it's listed in the Terms & Conditions under the messaging tab.

and with an entire month of pix messaging (approx 5 a day) it will definitely exceed the 44.99 charge per kb. thats what im assuming.

Cust care explained it saying that with a regular phone it takes airtime (usually one min or two) when to send or receive a pix/flix msg. But with a smart phone its $0.015/KB instead of airtime. Same with backup assistant etc.

I asked them how I can prevent it and they told me to disable PIX/FLIX and just keep the TXT pack or add the 44.99/month data pack. I really hope that Verizon lowers the price of the data pack so it's similar with Sprint and AT&T's pricing which is MUCH lower. Only $15/month with Sprint and they actually have a larger Rev A network.

i assure you that you do not get billed kbs for pix/flix. we can compare the dates/times to when you get kb charges, you can also see that thru my account. we do have a 10 mb allowance for 24.99. 1024 kb/mb

I forgot to add that Verizon told me that if I dont want to get KB usage i have to disable PIX/FLIX messages and just deal with not having that ability. Doesn't make sense that if someone has an LG VX5200 they can and if you have a MOTOQ or Treo u gotta disable PIX/FLIX in order to not get charged KB usage.

In order for Verizon to compete they will have to lower the price of the data plan because I can get the same thing for $15/month with Sprint and I wont be afraid to leave and pay the ETF (3 months of the data plan is the same as the ETF so it only makes sense).

I'm trying to see if any VZW reps know of a future promotional pricing change. Maybe a lower unlimited data pack?? Because I've been with VZW for years and would prefer not to leave but damn, $110/month is way too expensive.

So you would rather not leave VZW, but wouldn't mind paying the ETF. How bout you take your ETF money and just get a regular phone? If you don't use internet at all, you don't even need VCAST since sending pix/flix messages since it doesn't charge you data to do so.

I agree. I looked at the M&P and it shouldn't be charging kb for pix even on a PDA. Maybe it has something to do with the plan your on. Maybe it needs to be updated or something?

The phone will show usage even though you will not get billed for it. The billing system can tell the difference between data used for pix and data used for Internet and email.

I reviewed the m &p and it does say that as long as you are on the verizon network you will not be billed the data for pix messaging. you will pay for it if you are on the extended network(roaming)
