We have come to a point where people place CONSIDERABLE (especially on this website) effort in complaining about the Bluetooth on the v710. People place all this effort yet they can't stand the inconvenience of transfering a pic in a way other the Bluetooth, what a rough life!!!

What I don't understand is why is it so difficult to take the memory card out and stick it in a memory card reader if one wants to transfer pics? How much time are you really saving when someone is transfering data wirelessly via Bluetooth?

To the people who complain about the Bluetooth, GET OVER IT, that is the way it is. Your complaining and whining is not going to get you absolutely anywhere.

To the people who complain and whine about BT in their BMW or L...

i have a friend who has the moto bluetooth from verizon who's gf bought the v551 from cingular. he did all these great things with her phone and was locked out of doing those things with the verizon phone.
if you pay good money for a feature, verizon shouldn't cripple it.
my friend, in his case, has every right to complain.

I agree. I am sick of hearing that the bluetooth is crippled, and I was one of the first ones complaining about it. It has been established that the bluetooth is not fully functional, so if you don't like it, don't buy the phone. And if you buy the phone knowing that, don't complain about it because you won't be that one person that will make the facts change. I have learned to deal with it. Why can't everyone else?

The only problem I have with your statement is that we can no longer remove the transflash card from the phone and put it in a card reader and transfer pictures that way if we have already gotten the VZW flash update for the phone (not knowing that it further disabled other features of the phone besides bluetooth). The...

Yup, and sadly, its going to take a lot of the above before Verizon clues up to the fact that lots of ppl hate its current policy, and STOPS crippling data transfer.

you have to realize that this affects MAYBE one out of 500 vzw customers. (ie: someone who actually WANTS to hack their phone to download free ringtones, etc) and less than half of that .25% of the customer-base would be willing to switch their carrier because of it (especially since all you have to do is send yourself a picture message with the attachment).

this is a good forum, but the haters hardly have the pulse of what vzw customers actually want.

As just one example, what about the iTunes phone that Motorola is going to put out next year? Will we see it, or will it be a 'no go' for Verizon because it uses PC-to-phone data transfer to get the songs on the phone, and Verizon doesn't like that? What about the umpteen other new features or services that will appear and evolve in the wireless industry in the coming years? Will Verizon be an impedement to them too if they use data transfer in ways that interfere with Verizon's 'tollbooth'?

you think you're not going to have to PAY for the iTunes service? the PC to Phone transfer would hardly be something that would be difficult for vzw to roll out. what do you think vtext.com does?

I don't think

look, i understand it sucks for you that vzw has limited the use of the bluetooth, but frankly: it makes good business sense. vzw will make more money on forcing customers to use get it now than the VERY FEW people who will actually leave the service because they can't get the stuff for free.

I'll give you points for actually *admitting* that VZW intentionally cripples data transfer to push Get It Now on people...

Just curious. Where do you work? I've seen you say you don't work for a wireless company. So I was curious what profession would propagate you being on the forum all day long. I don't mind that you are on the forum, I am just curious. You seem to have some knowledge of the wireless industry (or at least an opinion any way), so I am curious where you get the info and your opinions.

I work in an industry that's just starting to use a lot of wireless technologies and standards- video games & video game hardware/consumer electronics. And no, I don't work for Circuit City, Best Buy, or any retailer. Think companies that rhyme with "Pony" or "Amari" or "Shinkendo".

I''ve been here lots lately 'cause its interesting & because my job is feast-or-famine... I'm either working insane hours or not many at all. Before too long you'll see me here rarely, perhaps not at all.

Vid game industry isn't that great... a lot of the ppl are neat (artists, musicians, 'cool nerds', etc.), and its great to be a part of a team, but the work itself is often includes very VERY long hours, low pay, and a lot more tedium than you'd think.

Its also very tough to find a job in it unless you live in a vid game company 'hotspot', such as Seattle, SF Bay Area, or certain parts of Southern California.

Ok. So can you tell me where you get all of your info and opinions? It seems wierd that a video game company employee would know large amounts of information about wireless companies, phones, and services, but doesn't actually work in the wireless industry. I can understand a passing interest in the field, but you've responded to some questions that only company reps would or should know the answers to... so once again, where do you get your information?

My, such an interest in me. Cain? 🙂

The short answer is that I simply read a lot and know some people. This site has helped a lot, I really listen to what the reps on all the forums have to say (though I do not automatically buy into it). I also look at rcrnews.com and various computer- and tech-related websites such as CNet and macobserver.com, and several others.

Also, a good friend of mine is an IT ninja (incredibly brilliant guy) with decades of experience, he informs me on some stuff, and another bud has worked in the cellphone biz for a number of years... he's sold for Cingular, ATTW, and Nextel, and is a true-blue Motorola fanatic. He's tolds me lots of stories about the biz and how things should be better in it.

Its funny....

I'm sorry, but this is nonsense. I own a Mac. Mine has Bluetooth built-in, or you can buy a $35 Bluetooth dongle. Macs have iSync. With Bluetooth & iSync you can download all your contacts into your non-crippled Bluetooth phone, and (perhaps more importantly) back up all the contacts on your phone onto your Mac. I really, reeeally want to be able to do this.
