This Google search link should prove interesting to those who want Bluetooth capability, but are unhappy about Verizon not presently allowing fully Bluetooth-enabled phones on its network.

Yeah, we know... an excellent recent article in WIRED did an overview of the various virus problems that Bluetooth phone users in Europe are starting to encounter. Recommended reading.

That said, let's not kid ourselves... VZW is crippling Bluetooth for money, not security. And viruses are an argument for better software/security, not wholesale feature-crippling.

For example, if Microsoft followed VZW's example, their next OS (Longhorn) wouldn't be so much about improved security as it would be about stripping 90% of the features out of their OS. Admittedly, that is the 'quick and dirty' way to improve security, but its certainly isn't the best way... not if your customer base actually wants any features. 😳

Bluetooth virus is nothing new. Gladly we dont have to worry about this too much. 🙂
