Pearl Question
Can you put Google maps on the VZW Pearl without compromising the function of the phone and the warranty? I do not want to pay VZW any more money for Nav. Thanks in advance for the help.

Vzw is the only thing that will work with gps as far as I have read. Verizon wants you to use there service. Sorry I am not happy either. I think verizon should inform there customers of this stuff and we should not have to find out after the fact

Thanks. It the answer that I was expecting but not necessarily the one I wanted. Someone showed me their Google maps on their Pearl with ATT and it was nice.

the pearl comes with a google map program, it just doesn't allow you to get turn by turn directions. its sort of lime using mapquest, then reading the instructions on your phone screen. might as well print them off of a computer and bring the directions with you. but vz nav is made by garmin, and i use it at least once a week, its pretty solid, never any issues finding new places, etc. its worth the $9.99, but if something was available for free that did the same thing, i would use it prolly. just cus im a cheap ass like our customers.

Who wants to use Mapquest when the point is you are lost and on ATT get GPS for free and it will tell you were you are at.
It is just that Verizon has this thing called milking there customers which is not needed give something to the customers besides just a good network.
Pretty soon you are going to get charged to turn off your phone and charge it through Verizon
