Question for the corporate people

I'm trying to get a job with corporate. I've done the applications online. Is it worth going to talk to managers in the store? I got the impression that the hiring process is handled through the human resources department. Any advice on getting a job?

First off, are you sure there is a job opening where you are applying? If there is a opening you should post a resume online at the website, careers.verizonwireless.com. A ton of online apps are auto rejected because all the fields were not filled out.
Wait 24 hours and go to the store you applied to. Make sure you are dressed nice. I will not interview someone unless they are dressed appropriatly. dress at the same level or higher than the people in the store.

Bring a resume and make sure you hand it to a manager. they might ask you a few questions.

Great, thanks for the advice. I usually follow up like that, but I couldn't tell how much the management was involved in the initial screening process.

I did post a resume and apply to several stores with openings in my area.

A lot of it depends on the manager of the stores you applied at. Right now my area is in a hiring freeze until next month. Which sucks cuz I need a rep for my kiosk to bring me back to full staff so my guys here can take some time off after the holiday. I have been interviewing people but i cant push it through til feb.

The store manager will most likely be involved for an interview as part of the process. You need to go through like 3-4 interviews, mostly with HR.

after you stop and visit the store manager or supervisor, the next day drop a small thank you card in the mail. nothing flashy, just a plain white thank you card...

Keep it short, but make sure he knows your serious about the job. Sending this off will not only show your professionalism but that your on top of your game.
