Yes Verizon has Push to Talk. Actually its better than nextel's because with Nextel you have to have two numbers one for your cell, and one for your Push to Talk and Verizon has a bigger and better network. With Verizon you only have one number to remember for both uses. The flaw is that if you don't know anybody that uses PTT than it might not be any good for you until you get someone to get it with you. Hope this helps. 😎

Ummmmm no....

Verizon's PTT is limited to their 1RXTT network areas and it does not work when roaming or in analog areas. Actually a much smaller coverge area than Nextel.
Having two numbers - one for cell one for PTT - is better. If I don't want to give someone the ability to PTT me I don't have to. With Verizon having one number means less privacy.

Yep...I totally agree on both points, especially on the two numbers. There are some I much rather give my cell number to and not my Direct Connect. Both are commited to memory so it's not a big deal giving either one out. 😎

Check out these two links and tell me where you get Verizon has a "much" smaller network for PTT? Most people that use PTT are businesses and would rather have one number for it's users. Privacy is not complimented just because you have only one number to be contacted by. Most people would rather have only one number to keep track ...

Another example of how Verizon sabotaged it's own product before it even left the gate.

PTT v2 will be better, but the current PTT is slow to connect... 9 second delays are BAD.

I did a demo on the "new format" a few weeks ago. It's still not that much faster on the initial connection (about 4 to 6 seconds), but they did get the latency to where it's almost real time (about a second) but still not as fast as NEXTEL's PTT which is sub-second connection and almost zero latency.

We did the comparison side by side with phones from each carrier at the same time so we didn't have to do anything by memory. 😁
