It goes without saying that running the VZW UI on the Razr2 is like running...well, it's like running the VZW UI on the Razr2. It's just stupid. Anyone know how I can get the OEM UI on my unit?

i'd say flash it with either alltel or us cellular firmware using motorola rsd lite, keep in mind generally motorola flash files come in so-called "monster files" that basically rewrite the entire firmware, leaving the phone at a "fresh out of the factory" state. getting data such as picture messaging, get it now, vcast, and the like working is quite a bit more difficult, there are guides online that you could check out as well, over at howard forums, or mobile-files.com if you really want to get the original ui. a friend and i tricked out a vz razr2 with us cellular firmware and we had vcast, vz tones deluxe, the original moto media player, and the ability to skin! ๐Ÿ™‚ just a warning to you, definitely don't try to flash it to sprint firmwa...

generally anyone that is into serious phone hacking probably isn't too concerned about voiding their warranty, but you're correct it does technically void the warranty, then again who's to say they can't flash it back to vzw firmware, as far as i know there is no way to tell, and don't misunderstand me i'm not promoting warranty fraud, i'm just saying that unless the phone is actually bricked there is really no way for anyone to know a phone has been flashed if it has been flashed back to vzw firmware.

... So by OEM UI, do you mean the Sprint UI, the Altell UI or the US cellular UI? As those are the only three out there besides the VZW one for the phone.

And for whichever of the three you want, your best bet is to contact motorola directly and they can tell you how you could go about loading softwear onto the phone. (which will cause many of the functions to not work correctly)

NO its like putting a Ecotech 4 cyc engine in a Shelby.

Verizon's color is Red for a reason.....SOCIALISM. Everything the same for everyone. Control Evey thing and everyone buy giving everyone the impression of never going hungry (with reference to their supposed superior network)

Komrads unite and try to achieve world domination over the Imperialist free GSM customer.

The identification of Communism with "Socialist" red (with the red flag being the primary color of the flag of the Soviet Union) and the red star being a Communist emblem led to such Cold War phrases as "the Red Menace" and "Red China" (distinguished from Nationalist China, "Free China," or Taiwan). See also The East is Red. Mao Zedong was sometimes referred to as a "red sun". The color was also associated with political vehicles such as the Red Guard in China and the Red Guards during the Russian Revolution of 1917 as well as with left wing paramilitary terrorist groups such as the Red Army Faction in Germany and the Japanese Red Army.

Communism and socialism are not the same thing. Socialism is also different from anarchy. I understand the connection between the color red and communism. So again, since when does the color red indicate socialism?

In very broad strokes, socialism is an economic system in which "the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government Verizon) that often plans and controls the economy (Product and it's use)." In modern societies, socialism often attempts to eradicate class divisions.(Hence same GUIs) While the word "socialism" is sometimes used interchangeably with "communism," the two aren't the same -- communism is a more extreme form of sociali...

I don't associate socialism with a color, but I would probably pick blue if I had to. Red is symbolic of communism and arguably anarchy.

I think the color for anarchy is black.

Lost in this is that Verizon is a business. It is not the government. It is a business. Businesses are not communist. The whole point of capitalism is that if you don't like the way one business does things, you go to another. Verizon is not standing in your way. If anything, your (talking to AvgJoe here) insistence that Verizon provides things that they are not at this point willing to provide stinks of communism.

I'm not arguing for or against Verizon being communist. I'm just saying that socialism isn't red. As for anarchy being black, there is a pretty major anarchy publication that uses black and red. That's why I said it's arguable that you could associate anarchy with red. Socialism though...that's just retarded.

๐Ÿ™„ So I take it you think socialism is a bad concept? I'd almost prefer it to the very capitalistic greed that Verizon Wireless practices, see "walled garden method" (as in BREW). Of course, I'm not complaining, it has lead Verizon to become a very profitable company that pays the bills (and yet I'm paying them a bill too...hmm sounds like socialism to me! ๐Ÿคจ ) Socialism does not equate suppression of ideas, nor does it encourage "controlling everyone."
