Currently, I have AT&T. I have had Cingular/AT&T since high school. I've never had any problems with the service or the company. In fact, I worked for AT&T customer care for two years. Now, I work for an AT&T dealer. Recently, I saw the LG Voyager. It looks sweet! It is the first and only phone that has ever made me think of switching companies. I know VZW's plans are the same as AT&T's (sans Rollover), but what makes VZW worth it? Can anyone explain EV-DO? Is it the CDMA version of 3G? Is is as fast as HSPDA/UMTS? Is it nationwide or only in select areas like UMTS? These are just a few questions I have. I would appreciate any input.

yes evdo is the as you say the equivalent of att 3G service..some will argue but evdo is faster and verizon defiantly has a larger data network.
...
but the voyager is nothing more then a piece of crap env with touch screen, it is big and provides a weak web experience at best..i say stick with att.
...
Personal opinion. In this case, your opinion doesn't matter. His does. I don't particularly care for the Voyager either, but it doesn't matter because I'm not the one switching or interested in the phone.
...
Okay says you, I have more experience with verizon phone since I have used everyone on their website..it suck and even you know that!
...
It's personal preference. The only thing that makes a phone suck is if it doesn't work right. Other than that, it's completely up to user preference. He likes the Voyager. Unless you have something constructive to say, there's not point in saying anything. Stop trolling.

Aint trolling I answered his questions, I think he is better off sticking what has worked for him for years..the voyager would quickly lose its appeal for him, and he will wished he was back with att! don't do OP the voyager is not worth it!
...
🙄
You have no idea what would or would not lose appeal for a complete stranger. Stop trolling.
...
Sure i do 🙄 common sense most ppl who get that phone soon after hate it do to its size 🙄 see i can roll my eyes too! 🤣
...
WOW! What an honest answer/warning! Thanks.

If you have the opportunity, use the browser on the Voyager before you switch. I was pretty disappointed with the speed of the browser. Considering it's EVDO, I thought it should have been much faster. Other than that, I suppose it's personal preference. I'd just recommend using one before making the commitment and switching.

If using a Mass Storage Device ie, Plug in computer and it "sees" the phone as a USB card for easy file transfers. No special software needed.
ONly 2MP Camera on a flagship device is a sin in my opinion.
Its a rebadged EN-V in essance with the Verizon GUI. One good thing is if you stay with Verizon and switch phones you will get to use the same GUI on all the phones. Personally I find that hideous but you may appreciate Verizon making it easier for you.
Email is very basic and will cost you more to get it pushed to your phone. You will not be able to use imbedded links or see Gif. or Jpg files.
GPS is only TOWER based and therefore will cost you More to use it. Even on ATT phones you can use tower based GPS without buying a nav...

🤣 Yeah leaving att where there is all kinds of freedom, to go to verizon for a locked down crippled ugly ui voyager is just nuts! I love and need DC or else I would go to att!

As only one legitimate poster has replied to you, I will point out that you should ignore everything said by either Avejoe or Brown27 are both are stupid trolls whereas most of everything they say is a flat out lie or in someway wrong.
EVDO coverage can be viewed on VZW.com by clicking the view coverage in your area link. It is called by either Vcast or Broadband access interchangeably.
EVDO is the name for the tech used to provide broadband like speeds for CDMA networks. Phones use EVDO rev 0, which does not have the download potential of HSDPA, but is much more widespread due to the ease of upgrading towers from standard 1xRTT to hybrid 1xRTT/EVDO, as they are using the same underlying technology unlike GSM and HSDPA.
